My friend has a 2002 Suzuki SV650 and needs some parts such as shift and brake levers, etc. Anyone have recommendations on good sources for these kinds of parts? Since I ride an R12GS, I have no idea where to look. thanks, zigy

Shift and (rear) brake levers are pretty much unobtainium in my experience, unless you want to pay dealer price. Neither of these are folders, so they break off pretty often in tipovers. When I bought my 01 SV, the rear brake lever footpeg was broken off. Dealer wanted 78.00 for new; I couldn't find one on Ebay. I drilled and tapped the end, then used a bolt, sleeve, and jam nut, then forced a rubber sleeve over it. Been holding for a while now. The hand levers, even aftermarket, are 25.00 per. Your 'friend' may have better luck buying the ASV knockoffs on Ebay for the same money. Some have had pretty good luck with them. She should enjoy the SV. They're a great all-around moto.

oneidasuzuki.com hondaeasttoledo.com ^ both are about the cheapest online OEM parts I can find. I wouldn't recommend going with Emgo or Chinese rip-off aftermarket handlebar levers. I've had bad luck with them not being machined at the right tolerances. Ends up with annoying side-effects like the brake light switch not engaging properly. Quality aftermarket mfgs like Pazzo or ASV would be a good alternative to OEM.
I have used Power Sports (LINK) and Boulevard Suzuki (LINK) in the past. Both have good pricing. Be sure that all of the "savings" in low unit pricing isn't "shifted" to the Shipping & Handling charges. That is, I've found sites that have lower costs for the parts you want but when it comes to shipping, they're 2x or 3x more. So, be sure to (almost) complete the check out process before you decide which parts source to use.
