We spent a week in N.S. last August for our 30th wedding anniversary. We had done a MC trip through Gaspe, N.S. and Cape Breton 28 years earlier.

This time we rented a small house on a lake.

Drove but brought the K bike and our road tandem.

Rained all week, blowing sidewards for much of it.

Never rode either bike.

Did the driving tourist stuff- Pictou was our first stop- nice little town.

Thanks for the pictures of what we missed. Great that you had better weather.

Sweet. Thanks. I just looked and there are lots of different finepix models. Do you recall which one you had?

I remember it was a S series camera, Looked like the small version of an SLR...sorry, don't remember the exact name.

You mentioned earlier that you would post a map of some sorts showing the ride route. I'd be interested to see that... helps us visual thinkers to follow along. Great stuff. Many moons ago, my ancestors got fed up with Scotland, crossed the pond into Nova Scotia, across Canada to finally enter the U.S. through Michigan. Long story short... I've always wanted to see Nova Scotia but it's a bit inconvenient as I'm kind of on the wrong side of the country. For those that don't know, Nova Scotia means New Scotland.

Day 1: 497 Kilometers (308 miles)

Day 2: 360 Kilometers (223 miles)

Day 3: 581 Kilometers (361 miles) + at least 50 kms in involuntary detours/being lost

I have a Fuji Finepix S5600. It is shaped like an SLR and has a viewfinder giving the image through the lens, like an SLR, and also you can view the image on the rear screen. I like it because I prefer to compose a photograph through a viewfinder as that's what I grew up doing. It has 5.1mps and the lens has a good zoom range (optical not digital) between 55mm and 380mm. It also has digital zoom but that sucks pixels out of the image.
I bought it 6 years ago and it has worked faultlessly.
However the new compact digital cameras have much higher resolution, more like 12mps and are half the size. I've seen really good quality pictures with those so actually I would recommend buying a new one. You get even better battery life and lenses are very high quality nowadays.
