Damn...will you look at all those hay bales? Half the livestock in Europe must have had their ribs sticking out during racing season :D

    Good place for a sidebar...not a hijack:

Ago's '74 win at Daytona has to be considered one of the most impressive of all time! It was his first major race on the bike, after having spent nearly all of his career on the four-stroke MV. It was his first trip to Daytona...and it was the first major outing for the Yamaha TZ 700.

Roberts, Nixon, Sheene, Duhamel, Baumann, Smart, Castro, Romero, etc. were all there. Wish a film, video of the event was available.

And...none cooler than Ago! A journalist from that era told me that he traveled with his own entourage from Italy...including a massuese! (sp?)

Best ever...is arguable. Coolest of all time? Hands down!

    All respect to Ago :bow

But Gary Nixon had him whipped and handed the '74 200 to him on a platter

Always loved the old GP bikes from the days of my youth. No way I could ever afford one, so instead I built me a replica of one

I love bikes from this era, there was some serious innovation going on and real blood and guts riding.

A few I've taken over the past year.

I don't know the bike's pedigree, but a small indie shop down in Melbourne has among other things a TZ 700, or did last time I stopped by about a year ago. It was up on a lift with all the plastics stripped off. Lots of other exotic race bikes collected there, too. Wish I had taken my camera - I was drooling over some of the stuff in there.
