    Hi all,
    Well I finally got around to it, the big girl needed a 50K (km) service so i decided to invest some time and save a few $ and do it my self.
    I have a set of Jim's DVDs and half an idea so off i went.

    Too all you GS pilots out there a bit scared of grabbing a spanner, don't be. Its easy.

    Go for ride. Get everything hot.
    Drop all the oil.
    Follow Jim's DVD and the jobs done.

    Things I learned;
    adjust the end float of the rockers first, both to 0.05, makes for a nice quiet donk, then set the valves clearance.
    Bump the engine around after setting both the endfloat then the valves and recheck before sealing it all up.

    Thanks JVB and all on Gspot for making it 'a piece of piss' (as we'd say down here)

    Remember, the engine must be stone cold before attempting valve lash.

    Yup, you will get a tick from loose valves if you do it when the engine is warm. I proved this theory once (for scientific purposes, of course...)

    You might want to move those handguards down so they protect the levers in a fall. Nice bike!

    The handguards are universal, but do not adjust down as far as we would have liked. The brake line and clutch cable were in the way.

    However, we did lay the bike down (:lol3) and chacked to see if they would work as is!

    To the OP: Glad I could help!

    Thanks,

    Jim :brow
