This 1981 R80GS Dakar was abandonned at another BMW dealer, so we gladly purchased it from them and began tear down. Bike has been totally gone through and also has the 1000cc Siebenrock big bore kit (dont worry,we obviosuly kept all stock parts too), Siebenrock race exhaust, factory BMW solo seat and rack, and also the stock size tank and orange seat. A lot of these parts can still be bought new from BMW (including the Dakar tanks).

Just putting the final touches on the bike this week. The first Dakar we've done, and I'm sure not the last! Needs a few minor things tuned/finished but it's about 90% complete. Stop by the CT store and check it out!

(sorry for the semi-crummy pics, they were done on an iPhone until i get my real camera back, but works for now)

I'll second that as well...you guys are my primary parts supplier. Just wish I could stop in to admire this fine bike and the rest of your inventory.
Also, a big thanks for sponsoring Rick's Rendevouz in Laurel Springs, NC this year:thumb:thumb:thumb

    Beautiful job!

But.... Did anyone notice how far out of line the rear fender and wheel are? My ST is the same way and I initially freaked when I noticed it until several measurements proved it was my fender and not my bike that is warped. So I figue the same thing on this Dakar. Except the seat and tank as seen from the back also seem out of alignment.

Yes, I did in post #12...

and it really was a question for Zac vs rhetorical.

I've had some work done by maxbmw in the past & frankly, was not pleased. at all.

btw OLH, I think the kicker is a camera angle deal . I'm wondering if the subframe is tweaked?

well it's hard to get your money's worth when paying guys $80+ and hour these days!! They're in a hurry to get done. It's a shame IF I pay for work I usually have to go over it and fix shit not put back in the right spot. Luckily I don't pay for mechanical work very often usually when I do I'm not impressed.

Obviously a lot of work and money were put into the bike. BUT things look crooked from the rear and that isnt cool! Taking time for those kind of details is what I would expect.
