...selection of apparel and riding gear in your opinion?
I'm in the SF East Bay area and I'm right in the middle of several dealers. A&S is the most northern to me, and BMW of Santa Cruz County is the most southern. I don't mind a ride...I'd rather find a dealer that has plenty of stock to try on since I can never figure the proper size for someone who's not a skinny MetroSexual-Euro-Male-Model.

Haven't been to other BMW dealers recently to make a fair comparison, but A&S has a ton of clothes...a fair amount of the floor is dedicated to rider wear.

Marin BMW has a pretty good selection.

I can't compare the others, but I've heard that A&S and Santa Cruz BMW is bigger.

I've been to Marin BMW, Mountain View BMW and San Jose. Between the 3, Mountain view BMW has the largest floor space dedicated to apparel. Selection is usually pretty good. Marin is a close second. San Jose is by far the worst. Not much on display and limited in sizes. Just my opinion...

I've also been to Sierra BMW in Reno and they are probably even better in selection, but that's a real long ride.

The selection at A&S is truly impressive. Lotsa gear for women, too.

I was at San Franciso BMW 2 weeks ago and they had a good crop of duds.
Better that what I saw at A&S. Start early in the morning and you could
    probably hit them all.

I will say A&S is by far the best in terms of apparel (very, very impresive by any standards, the three or four times i'm being there.)
CalBmw is also pretty good, but A&S is just stupid in the amount of sizes and selection the have.

But i will also suggest to check none BMW stuff, Dianese, etc, and Scuderia West is by far the best place around, right in the middle of the Mission, ask for Ammy, she knows more about clothes and helmets than many birds know about Flying...

I would have to second Road Rider in San Jose. They have good quality stuff (First gear, Tour master, Lots of different Leather goods, and generally a lot cheaper then the competitors and they have no problem ordering what you need either.

Um why not just head out to BMWSF. It's a short distance away from you and they have a great selection of BMW gear though they are lacking in the non BMW apparel.

I've hit all the shops but the Mountain View shop. A&S is better simply because of the scenic ride. I really like the levee roads on 160 vs any highway.

A&S has a large selection of clothing of different brands. Check out the clothing rack directly in front of the changing room, it's their discounted stuff of BMW and other brands. you may get lucky and find something good.

Well, this reply may be a little late but still...

Helimot, in San Jose, manufacturers their own leathers and killer gloves plus they import several European brands of suits and Daytona boots. I curently own a Helimot suit for track-duty or aggressive road-days and a Stadler 2-piece fabric suit for commuting and longer rides.

They are not BMW brand but quality-product is a top priority for anything that Helimot sells.
