    Typical Pacific Northwest sun filters

Sometimes the filter gets a little thick like a blanket.

Did you sneak over Red Hill (FS16) today, or is that from somewhere on Lolo?

The Family and I looped on Lake Branch Road while missing the FS16 bridge over Middle Fork HR near Parkdale. We loved that 43 mile loop from home and back. Up and back on the same road just doesn't seem as much fun somehow.....

That Red Hill, Lolo Pass loop was one of my favorite cycling rides until we lost that bridge leading to Red Hill in "06"

I took that photo from a place that would never occur to anyone- top of Lost Lake Butte. I hadn't been to the top since I was a kid back in the very early 70's. It's worth the hour long trek to the top.

Late last fall that loop around Lost Lake Butte was open all the way through to Lost Lake Campground. I Mountain Biked it with a freind staying at LL Campground, then went back to drive it with the family. It is paved (rough, but paved) about halfway down from LL.

We were late starting today on our Lake Branch tour, and the Tacos were calling us or we would have done that loop too!

Around Lost Lake Butte? Are you talking about the semi closed Jones Cr. road?

Yes! The earth block is now gone from the gravel side that parallels Lolo Canyon (it was blocked about two miles South from LL Road), and the gate at the end of LL Campground was open that week anyway, very late fall after entry fees to LLCG were done for the year. That Jones Creek Road had been brush cut even.

I'm very curious if the gate at the top is still open/closed. I fear it must be locked now to avoid any "free" entry to LLCG.

++1 Colorado has plenty of things sticking out of the ground but nothing like that. Can't wait to see this in person.
