Not that they would admit; but secretly they all wish they'd bought a full size bike after a few weeks.

Tried both, and NO doubt at all that I bought the right bike!

I had the 800GS for 2 years, 24,000 miles, traded it for the tiger 800 because of reliability issues.

Liked the Triumph much better. No problems at all with the Tiger.

I have no regrets with my XC, but I will admit that one edge the F800 has is the number of aftermarket options, and along with that, the amount of stuff you find available in the used marketplace. Given a little more time though, and the Tiger should be on more or less equal footing in that respect.

Why do people buy the 800gs? It only weighs 20# less than the 1200 wet.

Because, when it's all said and done the 800gs is $8000 cheaper than a 1200gs

Wow, I reckon that's a pretty solid reason. I've owned an 1150 and 1200gs. I had no idea the 800 was that affordable.

I owned a 2009 F800GS. Very cheaply made, a lot of little things weren't really well done. It was a nice bike to ride but overall I didn't like it very much.

Like my Tiger 800 (non-XC) much better. It's better overall quality, nicer engine (for me), more comfortable.

What about the engine heat issue of the tiger? I live in Texas and it hits 115 in the summer.

Never had an issue with it and rode in temperatures up to 105F. If it hits 115 I doubt that the "heat issue" of the Tiger will be my main problem. I'll try to crawl under a rock and hide until night then ...

Not sure why you think an 800 isn't a full size bike. Have you ridden them?

I recently sold my 2006 Multi 1000s which I bought new. I thought I was going to buy a new Multi but couldn't see taking it over CO mountain passes... I rode my Multi on multiple 4000-5000 mile rides and the Tiger is better at those rides plus manageable off road.

No. While I didn't plan on buying the Triumph, it was an easy decision once I rode it. The F800 would have felt at home with the three Bimmers in the garage....

It's all a question how much you have to compensate ...

Let me rephrase the whole full size thing. Certainly it has full size weight; just half the horsepower. But like a previous poster said; they're much less expensive so I can dig it. I'd rather ride 73hp at the wheel than none at all.
