Moto Guzzi Adv bike.?

Hello !
i keep seeing this bike around Phoenix Az. i think he,she? is a student @ MMI;
i get a glance at it occasionally going the other direction;it looks like a GS adventurer,but w/ guzzi motor! any idea what it is???

Probably a Quota:





The Quota 1100 ES was imported to the USA in 2000. There are probably about 100 of them here in the states. They are about the size of a BMW GS. Good reliable bikes. I like mine...

Of course, it could be an earlier Goose like the V65TT, more akin to the R80G/S than an Adventure, of course...

That's the Daytona demo that was crashed on Hwy 16 during the open house a few years ago. Derek had bought it to make it into the second shop racebike, but after the shop closed, he put it together and has been riding it.

No gauges, no turn signals, no lower fairing. A Triumph rat bike !!! LOL...

He rode that thing to Laguna Seca to the Superbike races two years ago like that !!!

It is refreshing to see someone talking about anything but V-stroms !
Moto Guzzis, Cagivas, Ducatis or Aprilias. Anything but V-stroms !

Or maybe it is just me. Do our Adv. bikes just need less hype?

The Guzzi pictured is not what I would classify as any version of an ADV Bike. But I believe Guzzi actually did/does make an Adv bike didn't they?


Would still love to hear more about the Cagiva version of the Strom!

Which pictured Guzzi? Cuz I'd be happier taking my V65TT on all but the longest tours, especially where dirt is involved. The TT weighs in at only 360 lbs (dry). The TT also does remarkably well on the slab. I did a long weekend on the bike when I first bought it. Here's a pic of the bike loaded up. I could have carried more stuff and still weighed less than the GS dry.

I'm sure the Quota does better on the slab then the TT. Wonder how much the Quota weighs?

Guzzi's original customers for the Quota were the Tunisian police/military. I'd recon that a motorcycle intended for use in the North African desert qualifies as an Adventure Bike.

Actually the Albanian police ride a plue version of a bike that looks like this also. Didn't Guzzi actually make an Adv bike that was more like a GS as opposed to this one which maybe does meet the requirements about like the original 800 BMW Paris Dakar but doesn't look like the models of today, is what I meant.

I still don't know what you mean, but the V65TT and NTX were Moto Guzzis answer to the R80G/S.

I am sure you are right but didn't Guzzi make some type of ADV bike that was larger and had more of a GS look to it than these...,these may well like the 800 BMW'sbut that is a long way from the bulked up looks of the 1150 versions. I though Guzzi did the same but maybe they didn't come to the USA.

The Quota.

It is the large ADV. bike Guzzi produced and did sell in the US (I have three friends with them!)
