Jorge's a champ. He's fought adversity before. He came back last year- a little late, but still. I think he'll get sorted. I hope so, even for the sake of another contender in the mix!
And I hate to say it, but I think Dani's done. He might give it a go, but this level of last resort surgery for that injury indicates something that he won't be able to fight through. He's definitely a tough bastard. Look at his HX and he's still going. But I think it's over this year.
i dont think it matters for this year now as far as his own ambitions are concerned. But its going to be a big day when he does come back.If this doesnt work i fear his racing career is over I vote MM by a country mile.
And FP2. Not my favorite guy, but good to see him back at the front where he belongs. Spain, and the new contract, seem to be working for him.
Looks like Lorenzo has found something... and Marquez right behind him in FP2 (that broken finger doesn't seem to be slowing him down), with the guy who's going to win way back down the list and a second off the pace.
So Rossi apparently thinks the hard/hard is going to be the tire to use. He has used that setup in both FP1 and FP2 and used the same rear for both sessions. Lorenzo/Marq have been on the medium rear. The Ducati's did some laps on their super soft qualifying tire as well.
I believe Rossi's strategy has been to pick the tire he thinks will last the race and set the bike up to get the most out of that tire. It doesn't produce really great lap times or qualifying but he's there at the end of the race. As long as Rossi starts in the first 3 rows he has a chance. He's never been a guy you bolts and leaves everyone in the dust.
Rossi is a lot like Dale Earnhardt used to be, in that they love the thrill of the race. DE didn't win a lot of poles over his career, but in the race you could see he relished running the leaders down and that was powerful motivation. Rossi seems to have the same motivation, at least in the latter stages of his career.
though VR did manage to hunt down MM two weeks ago, does not mean it'll always be possible. Now his team mate could also pose a problem.
He started in 8th at Qatar. He still had to catch and pass the riders in front of him. Of course MM made it a little easier.
1. Marc, what finger Marquez, just nails it. 2. Rossi 3. Lorenzo, the old man aces the kid again. 4. Dovi 5. Crutchlow edges out Iannone, and just misses Dovi.
