Z1000

Southwade I need to get out in the evenings and do some long exposure shots like you.. I despise the 18-55 kit lens that I have haha. I am picking up a 35mm f/1.8 this month for the new camera.

Most of my night shots are done at f8 or f11...

The kit lens is fine for that.

Any particular reason you want the 35mm over the 40mm pancake?

You guys are making me jelly with your nice camera talk. My camera still doubles as a phone.

The pancake is f/2.8 and for my personal style with photography I like shooting wide open. So I like having the option of using a larger aperture of 1.8 vs the 2.8. Just personal preference. The 18-55 is def fine for the long exposure shots I want the 35 for day time shooting and low light situations where I can go to f/1.8 and just bump up the iso and not do an extended shutter speed.

oh and the 40mm pancake lens is for Canon I have a Nikon at the moment lol.

i have the baby bro to the z1k, a 2006 z750s.

it has been a rock solid, very fun ride for the 10 months/3k miles i have owned it.

after not riding for 35 years, the z750s was exactly what i needed.



yup yup.

i use the bike to commute into manhattan 2-3 times a week and do solo runs up and back into the hudson valley north of nyc.

if i could figure out how to post pictures, i'd share some very unprofessional pix.

(southwade has REALLY raised the bar on z1k pix!)

Sweet pic; keep lusting after radial brakes on my 03.

Well, pulled the trigger and traded in my Versys for an (almost) new 2012 Z1000 with 722 miles on it. Got a great deal on both the trade in value of my Versys and the price on the Z. Got 4K for my Versys, which is 300 less than what I paid for it when I bought it from a guy on CraigsList a few years ago. The price for the Z was set at 8,499. So all told I ended up getting an OTD cost of 4,800 with tax and whatnot.

I'm super happy with it. Smooth, planted, torquey, comfortable, and all around fun. Excited to spend my summer on it and my WR250X
