I will be in Indian River in late July. I assume there will be some great places to ride. Any suggestions from local riders?

    Check out VVmapping
    https://www.vvmapping.com/orvtrailGPS.html

The Tomahawk single track trail system is close.
Pigeon River country has great two tracks.
you may need dnr and orv stickers.

    Mike,
We did do some of it last year.
So would that be 250 smoke or 300 smoke?
It may be kinda boring on either one but the V strom may be a handful looks like you need a mid sized bike. How about this? I bet he will take 2,000 $

Right now its 250 smoke. I do plan to put the 300 top end on soon though, gear it up a notch for some DS use.

I have often thought of a mid sized DS bike - lean towards the likes of a 525 or 690 KTM. So did you buy the Cagiva? I saw that post just the other night. Actually it was a test ride on a Cagiva GC that started me down the path of ADV oriented bikes.

CR500 - the ORV trail loops motodutch posted the link to are fun ones. The A loop (most notherly one) sees a lot more quad traffic, is pretty wide and sandy. B is tighter, C is my favorite loop in the state. LOTS of dirt roads and two tracks in the area to play on.

I liked the GC I test rode - that Ducati motor was nice. Ergo's were a bit tight for two up, so we passed on it. Had that not been the case, I would of bought it.

I look forward to doing some riding with you on it!

Rode this today on the 990. Fun ride. Little bit of deep sand, and one hill I cooked into a little too fast. There are all sorts of trails and roads North of Vanderbilt that could extend that ride out. Hope to ride it with you guys sometime this year, if we can get our schedules to connect!

I got out last week on a fresh logging two track. I got cross rutted and ended up pined under the bike laying in a mud hole with a twisted ankle 5 miles in.
Then hurt my back picking the pig up. At 65 yrs. Old i'm rethinking my adventrue spirit.

The problem with smaller bikes is it would tempt me to ride more difficult trails, What I need is to sit back and enjoy riding easier dirt and two tracks with out putting myself in harms way. Like riding my XRL like its a GS. Yea that's the ticket.
