Since I have not attended either of the previous VBR's would someone please define what the "prime camping" area will be.
It probably means that if you want to get a spot in the shade of some trees or whatever, then you'd best get there early.
The entire place is trees. Some people like to camp by the lodge and in the open. There's only a few hundred spaces like that. I camp back on the flat spots under the ski lift supports. Camping at this resort isn't an issue. It's a huge place and the issue is finding spots that are level, but there's plenty of these spots if you aren't afraid to walk a couple hundred yards from the lodge. You can ride to most of these spots, too.
Very few things are as entertaining as watching the posers arrive and try to ride on grass covered ski slopes.
The only areas I remember being roped off were the paths used by the Trials riders, and areas around the lodge for bands and stuff. Some things are not very clear after lots of adult beverages and 5 years.
Looking forward to arriving Thursday afternoon. Camping at one of the hotels in town. The last one was the best rally that I've ever attended. I've been enlisted for a discussion about riding the Dalton and Alaskan Highways and long distance on Saturday afternoon, in the lodge at the top of the Spirit Mountain.
