Unless you have access to the bikes BMW has out at the shows or are lucky enough to be on the inside, everybody gets to wait. Waiting sucks...
The f800GS was to be my perfect bike. Then BMW annoyed me with poor work for lotsa money. Then I bought a blackbird for Europe, and a TDM850 for the commute. Then I saw the Moto Guzzi Griso.. Still like the 8GS though.. Ray
I remember when I got my first BMW R11GSA in '95. I had scabs on both shins till I learned not to try to get my foot by the front wheel when rounding corners in the dirt ah la motorcross style. Gonna hang about and watch that 800GS. Could be a great bike. To bad Yamaha didn't carry on with their TDM 850 over here in the states.
Just got back from dropping a deposit on one. Should be release date of March 9th. Can't wait. My wife will love it.
Got to pay off my Sub first, than i will get a new bumblebee. By then the bugs should be worked out of it, however its not like its a new engine.. would be interesting to do a side by side drag race with a 1200GS
LOL agreed!!! I like the yellow the best. The more I read and look at it the more I want it. But I wont pay premium so I will wait a bit and see how they test ride and hold up with the guys that buy them right away.
I will think about it, but for now the wee strom does everything I need it to just fine. I like the little GS, but it is awfully expensive.......maybe a used one in about 3yrs
My money has been down since June. Not sure if its the yellow or grey tho. I like grey better but for visability am leaning toward the yello. Yello is pretty flash..... Oh for those 'deciding' to wait for the '09 so the '08 kinks are worked out. Why not wait an extra yr cause by then the '09 kinks will surely be worked out.
To all you guys getting the Bumblebee because you hope it might save your bacon, my old '98 R1100GS had the bulbous Adventure tank and I had it painted to match the original red & white 75th anniv. scheme, it had bright yellow PIAA 540 ion crystal lights mounted out front, I wear a big red, white & black BMW Rallye II clown suit, and a bright white helmet. And in spite of all that "visibility," I can't begin to count the number of people who "just didn't see" me and turned left in front of me. I swear, I looked like a rolling hazard warning! Don't get me wrong, I'm all for visibility. But counting on a little yellow & black paint to remove our cloak of invisibility could be fatal wishful thinking. Of course, if the paint scheme just floats your boat, well then... David
I will almost certainly be getting one in a few years.... after my R32 is paid off and I have room for two bikes.
