I had two honeycrisps this weekend as well! Probably ties with pink lady for my favorite apple.

My favorite mainstream apple would be the Gala.

    :clap

If the grease is successful at stopping pinch flats you wont need a patch!

I saw that video and installed new etra heavy duty Maxxis tubes front and rear with a very light coat of grease. Not for the instalation ease, but reduction of pinch flats.
Let you know how it works out, first time I've done this and it was done out of desperation.

True on the pinch flats but nail or puncture flats are another issue altogether. I guess you could put gas from your tank on a rag and clean the grease off the spot you had to patch if it came down to it. I am sure all kinds of sand, sticks and wildlife will be sticking to that tube trying to patch it in the woods though.

I thought about that as well. I have yet to patch one in the field. carry a 21" w/ ya and your good for either rim! I also thought about the grease breaking down the rubber and swelling it but that was after the fact. We'll see! I saw the video and thought it made sense. I put a very light skin coat at best! See what happens, I'm the guinnea pig.

I would recommend PTFE grease. The petroleum may break down the rubber in the tube and then you won't be able to patch it at all :rofl

Don't go too far from the truck!

So no Vaseline? How about KY? Honestly, axle grease is pretty thick and something like KY is probably perfect. Your wife may be a little creeped out if she catches you greasing your tube in the garage with KY though.

I'm not too worried about going far from the truck. Most of my riding is right outta the house.
It would take a L O N G time for the tube to break down if it ever even would. We'll see.

CPB and I were just out at Precision giving the Explorer the once over. Loved it. The one thing we picked out that we didn't like was the hoakie Triumph Side Bag system. Looks really vulnerable on a tip over or worse. It seemed like the plastic mounting tabs on the bags would snap right off. You'd hope the side cases would give you some protection. SW Mototech seems to have solved that issue. Nice work Twisted !
