Every one enjoys riding when the wild flowers are blooming and every thing is green. To our inmates in the Central Valley do the nut trees blossom --When --Where ? --and is it worth a ride ? I am Itching for a road trip !
Almonds are over...usually Feb-Mar...Walnuts yet to happen, but no attractive blossoms, Pistachios yet to happen but don't know what they look like...cherries are just finishing up....better luck next year...search the web for info on a "Blossom Trail" seems that somewhere in the Fresno or Reedley end of the valley they have a marked Trail...maybe for apricots...just seems I've heard of it before...maybe somebody will chime in with better info....our apple trees that we just bulldozed over are blossoming, but it is a sad sight .....
The Blossom Trail is around Reedley,Orange Cove,Sanger, Might pop into Fresno for Chinatown festival. Quick three day blast from here in Escondido. Yes the freeway will suck but I wanted to do this for years and the weather will be good this weekend.
You can drive by my house and look at my avocado trees they are starting to blossom. Although you wouldn't know it Unless you are into avocado trees. I'm just down the 78 from you.
I was thinking the citrus trees around Orange Cove might be blooming, but I haven't been there recently. The ride over the Grape Vine should be nice anyway. If you go next weekend, the drag races are on at Famoso Raceway. I'm pretty sure they have everything from turbo imports to motorcycles to nitro funny cars racing that weekend. There is some rain schedule the Wed-Thurs before, though, so no telling what the weather will be.
Almond trees in the south end of the cental valley (bakersfield) are almost in full bloom maybe another week until full bloom.
The whole central valley should be in full almond bloom right now. Stanislaus County area is covered in miles of giant white and pink orchards. Of course there are also thousands of bee-boxes out. Bees hurt at speed.
Id love to join but its like playing russian roulette down there at this time being prone to near death experinces from bee stings... (became allergic in my 30s) heres your guide.. http://www.gofresnocounty.com/blossomtrail/blossomindex.asp
