I cleaned out the tank when I cleaned out the carb. I have ordered points & a condenser on your advice. I'll just need to figure out how to put them in when they show up.

    Thanks

Check float level and look for fuel line restrictions.

Here is my 1978 TY250. This bike has the frame moded. The shock locations have been changed and the frame cut out under the motor giving it more ground clearance. I also included a shot of the whole herd.:D

So I finally got the TY 175 fixed. A big thanks to Matt at Speed and Sport. :clap

Several people looked at the bike and none of us could figure it out. It turned out that the small o-ring on the main jet was not sealing . When the bike was revving high enough to use the main jet it would suck fuel around the outside of the jet rather then through it. Matt told me its a problem he has seen on several TY 175's

I've been digging around, and from what I gather the TY250 mono was never available in the USA (at least not listed in any parts catalogs I can get my hands on) and all we had imported was the 350. Has parts availability been an issue at all for you guys with a 250? I'm dangerously assuming that with a little effort (ebay and whatnot) and parts-crossing with the 350, the 250 mono would be relatively easy to keep going. Or am I totally wrong and these bike are made of unobtanium? I only ask since I'm going to check a 250 mono out this weekend, and I'm trying to actually find out about what I'm looking at instead of being my usual incredibly impulsive self :lol3.

I don't plan on competing (I'm sure you guys have never heard that before ) and just want one to putt around the backyard with. Seller says this one runs like a top and is presentable to boot. If parts aren't a major issue, I'll probably bite. Thanks guys!

The ty mono was the greatest trials bike ever made. As the best it was ridden to death. Parts are hard , but not impossible. The local Yamaha dealer will almost be worthless. Buy the bike!:D http://www.tytrials.co.uk/

Well, it ended up being out of my price range (I'm an inexpensive posterior), but there will be a 86 TY350 going up on Ebay/CL in central FL soon. Hope one of you guys get to take advantage of it!

Here's my '74 250. It's down to the bare frame and I've started the restoration and I hope to sand blast and do some priming tomorrow.

I'll also add my two 175's that are on deck to be restored after the 250 is done. They look doggy but both run good and will be good candidates for restoration. I'll end up keeping one of the 175's and the 250 for my own enjoyment and peddle the other one after it's done. (Sorry for the lousy picture).

    Hi Guys,

I've been working on a lot of little things on my ty175. Next project is a kick stand.

Can someone with a stocker measure the length of the kickstand? I've got an old DT one that I intend to lengthen, but would like a starting point to what it should have been.
