Got to agree, I am stuck in Athens, have a bike that cuts out every 20 miles but fires up again no problem (for now:eek1) never done a road book rally before and no idear how to navigate So I am better prepared than usual Brodovitch, thanks for that, I hope to speak with Patsy Quick later so find out more then.
The final routes seem to be shortened a bit... does this make it easier or... ?? DAY 1 TOTAL SS DAY 2 88 1 DAY 3 327 2 DAY 4 304 2 DAY 5 292 2 DAY 6 338 2 TOTAL 196 2
Thanks Ollie, I meant as: Day 1 Liaison 1: 25kms Special Stage: 88km Liaison 2: 25kms I figure that as the roadbooks have probably already been printed, the information would be available... Hellas Rally, how many total kms of Liaisons / asphalt transfer routes?
found this on the site: 1 Day Lepanto - Apodotia Lepanto (100km 1 SS) 2 Day Lepanto Lidoriki - Lepanto (400km 2 SS) 3 Day Lepanto Lidoriki - Lepanto (300km 2 SS) 4 Day Lepanto karpenisi - Lepanto (200km 2 SS) 5 Day Lepanto Amfissa - Lepanto (400km 2 SS) 6 Day Lepanto Agrafa - Lepanto (220km 2 SS) That says: no rallying in the Peloponnesos
no sticky for Hellas Rally too:huh? Scrutineering today... race tomoorow! http://alessiocorradini.squarespace...two-administration-and-tecnical-verifications
Just got back from the rider's briefing, can't wait to get some racing done tomorrow, even of it's only gonna be a short stage of around 50kms. At least we start the day at a very leisurely 12.00 at noon Today was spent setting up camp, registration and technical controls, fitting gps trackers on the bike and riding the organisation's calibration kilometer. Also caught up with the usual suspects like Guillaume Martens, Chris Barwick, Patsy Quick, Christian Pastori, Martin Fontyn, Edvin Kassimati (of Rally Albania) and Alessio Corradini and got to put faces to names I've bumped into over here like Ollie Lloyd, Ollie from the Netherlands, Lee exc and a few others. Really nice atmosphere in the bivouac, more to follow tomorrow...
So, special of 51kms over today, was having a fantastic run up until it all went completely FUBAR Organisation started me in 70th position today (no idea why), but it was fun as I started passing the first riders just a few kms into the special. Downside? On a tricky nav tulip at km47 I encounter the mother of all clusterfucks, about 20 riders circling round and round. Lost concentration, and 18 minutes to unfuck my navigation. As a bonus, after getting back on track, another stray rider going the opposite way rams into me, I was riding on the right hand side of the trail. Result 55th for the day, but very happy I didn't injure myself or the bike and really happy with my pace, which I figure would have placed me just outside the top 10 if I didn't get caught up amidst all the tourists. Tomorrow we ride two specials, 50 something and 90 something kms, so hope to make up some time.
:eek1 wHat a day ... :huh I guess they try to slow you down GooD thing as you say you are in one piece, keep it safe and keep us updated
Thanks Dimitri, and thanks Gian for the link, otherwise I would have to run to the race secretary to figure out my starting time for tomorrow first bike starts at 7am tomorrow, I should be taking off at 7.52. Two Specials for the second day, one is about 89kms and the other will be the one we ran today in reverse (50kms). The remaining 140kms are Liaisons. Zzzzzzzzzzz catch you all tomorrow
