How do you not get lost. I used to live in Va. as a kid and the forests were extra thick...kinda like yours. Are YOU a forest whisperer? :rofl:ear

Great stuff Debandi. You put a really interesting spin on a ride report. As something of a history buff myself, I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for any/all of your threads from now on!

Howdy neighbor- I live right up 31 in Smoke Rise, and my wife's the photographer who rents the building in front of the current Blount Springs village. Loving this- I kinda knew the general outline, but this is a step beyond that. Good work, keep it up.

Love your ride report. Motorcycling and history I love them both.
I live in middle tn and we have so many springs our county is nicknamed Keg county for all the moonshine that has been made. At one time people flocked to natural spring resorts now they bottle water, slap a sticker on it and pretend its from a spring. Keep up the good work.

By the way very nice bikes!!!!!

Killer story and hat's off on another world class ride report.

It's amazing how time can erase local history.

    Props to you for keeping it alive . . . . . . . :freaky

    Very cool ride report.

I often explore old 'ghost' communities in the Arkansas Ozarks. You can tell a lot about a community if you can find it's old cemetary.

From the looks of the forest in your pictures I really didn't see much in the way of old growth trees. Looks like it was heavily logged out no more than say, 50 - 60 years ago.

Looking east down the original L&N railroad. The hotels were located just to the right of my bike.

Really. This was the original L&N railroad.

This is the actual location where the final spike was driven to complete the railroad in 1872.[ :nod

If you have an imagination, you can see the old hotels.
