    :earHi to all
Wife and I are planning to pull a 32 ft toy hauler from the snowy north in Ontario ending up in southern California. We're looking for suggestions on good areas to stay, where the weather is still good for 2 up riding in Feb & March.
Obviously twisty roads and scenery are most important. We realize that there will be snow in the higher mountains and passes, but what about some of the coastal ranges where the hills & mountains are closer to the ocean, and not so high???
Need all the input we can get in terms of areas to stay, roads to ride, roads to avoid, great places to eat -- you know the drill. Also would like to know the very best maps to use cause the ones available here suck big time.
    Thanks for any input

Great time to stay at Furnace Creek, Death Valley. You can camp in the campground or in the overflow. Get advance reservations if you're going to be around during President's Day. Usually lots of bikes around that weekend.

I would say anywhere in the Coachella Valley. From Desert Hot Springs to Palm Springs to Indio down to Borrego Springs.

A quick Google would give you tons of camp info. It will always be nice weather in the C. V.. Lots of amenities for whatever you yearn for. Shopping, movies, eats, coffee shops, casino's.

As far as the riding it will be pretty endless from the desert. Going west will bring to our mountains or beaches. North will take you to Joshua Tree N.P. and points beyond, ie; Mojave Preserve, Death Valley, Vegas, southern Utah. Heading east will take you out to the Colorado River, Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, Sedona, Phoenix. South is Salton Sea, Anza Borrego. Of course being Feb/Mar you could see some iffy days to ride once you leave the valley, but in general, layer up & go. Many of these rides will require a 1-3 nite stay over.

    Also try Pashnit.com & Byways.org

Sounds like you're headed for a beautiful trip. Good Luck!

    Hey Samthd:clap
Thanks for the great input. As the plan slowly evolves, we were actually thinking of heading to south CA directly, getting our fill of great riding and sunshine there, and then time and weather permitting, on the way home hitting AR for 4-5 days riding.
By then it will be mid March, so the plan was to head either to the TX hill country, or Big Bend area for a few days, once again dependant on the weather.
From TX it's a straight run home, and then a 7 week wait until the riding season begins in Ontario.
All and any advice from those who have ridden these areas in March, along with roads, recommended maps, eateries would be much apprecciated.
    Thanks to all

You have to ride Mulholland Hwy. From N Hollywood to where it ends at Dirt Mulholland. Then it starts up again around Topanga Cyn. You must ride through Topanga Cyn, Encinal Cyn, Las Virgenes Cyn. See Charmlee Park. But, don't forget to complete Mulholland Hwy all the way to County Line Beach. The Rock Store is on the way.

I am a native; feel free to contact me.

    :wave Hey Jeffrey
Good stuff, I've read a bit about this ride, so for sure it's on the list. We're gonna be there for at least a month, so we're looking for lot's of suggested roads to ride.
    Thanks man
