We have some great riding here. The Holey lands, the Florida Keys, the Everglades, and the hidden dirt that you'll never find on a map, a few whoops here and there, even Mudfest!
Seriously, there are trails there? I used to live in Plantation but I didn't even own a bike because the drivers are so f'in terrible and the riding was not worth the risk. But I didn't know of any trails, and I didn't realize you could ride the Holy Lands (so named because it used to be a bombing range, IIRC, unlike the Holy Land Experience here, which should be … never mind). I also heard there are some new trails in Big Cypress. That place is really cool. I cruised around in there with some guys on swamp buggies once and found a tree full of the best Key Limes in the world. I plan to go check out the humps (trails just south of homestead) on Sun 3/30. I understand that it's mostly mud or dirt trails. I'll have a friend along riding on the back of the KLR so going to avoid the mud. If anyone's up for cruising around there and exploring it come on out!
+1 ! Hi Eric Maybe this coming Sunday we should go up to Holy Lands?? I may have a charter but I'll let you know either way. PS; I do like mountains
Yes! there are sooo many unknown trails because as soon as they become known by too many, they get abused (rednecks) and get closed down, so we kinda keep em on the DL. Alan, great bike on the street, not sure about the other side yet...It's such a sweet bike and I'm not ready to tear it up yet... Oscar, this sunday sounds good. I'll try to post something a little later unless I go find the big Dualies this Sunday in Richloam. I KNOW you got some cool everglades riding you could show us...and fishing holes too! or we can catch the humps ride?
Ohhh....we got some serious sugar down here....makes the Scrub seem easy. I think it is flea worthy. Just gotta know where. We got trails too...
What's the holy lands like? The guy I planned to ride the humps with had to go out of town so we wouldn't mind going somewhere else on sunday if there is something better. Carrying a pillion I won't be able to do anything nasty like mud or tons of whoops or anything, but if you guys have bigger bikes then we should be able to keep up ok for some offroad. Also, it looks like alot of the everglades is in turkey hunting season until after 4/06. I looked up the humps (southern everglades wma) and it is an exception. The dualies ride is in central FL right?
Riding Holy Lands is hard packed gravel "roads" on top of levees. There are plenty of places to get off and ride some mud/sand etc, but that is more for the ATV crowd. My 1150 is just too big and heavy to ride that stuff, unless it is bone dry and with the recent rain it'll be muddy. It is possible to ride to Lake Okechobee on those levees, although that I haven't done it yet.. You need plenty of fuel as there is none, except at Snake road and I-75... Plenty of wildlife too, Gators, deer, raccons and BIG snakes... The gravel riding did prep me very well for BC, Yukon and Alaska. I am torn between wanting to ride this sunday and needing to make $$$.
All I can say on da forum is Northern Palm Beach County East of I-95 It's where I have been learning to ride my 640 adv off-road......no pics thou...gotta go too fast to stop or I fall. Been meaning to hit the leeves on lake O .... I got the range
Make that canadian bacon while its here...we'll be riding for years to come! I think a morning ride to anywhere would be great...even Loop Road...
I think we're going to try to get a loop road area ride next month hopefully.. Want to meet at everglades holiday park and ride the levies and trails towards homestead? looks like some intresting stuff out there if it's accessable.
