The other day I received a well packed present - thanks OldDog it wasn't goin anywhere or getting damaged the way it was packed.:deal

So today I set about getting the old donk out (123,000k's). New one is a Super Duke with about 18,000k's on it.

Took about 4 hours to get to this stage. :clap

And there are more uses for maxtrax than you think.:lol3

Now the credit card gets a flogging:cry

Plan on relocating battery, starter relay and rectifier while I'm at it.

Add a Sporting Wood intake and replace all bearings, hoses, new rad guard and rebuild forks while I'm at it.

May strip it and get frame powder coated orange while I'm at it.

The minister for war has said 'You can spend what you want - get the paint fixed as well".

There were some other words in there as well but I wasn't listening to those.:lol3

Are you swapping the gear sets between the two motors?

No Pete. The countershaft on the Adv is cactus, part of the reason I'm pulling it out.

If the SD gearing pisses me off too much it will just push me to re-build the Adv motor sooner.

Thats the hope Troy. Just hope the SD gearing isn't too much of a problem.

6th is supposed to be the same ratio as the Adv so it may just mean a bit more cog swapping

Low km Gear sets are on euro fleabay all the time if it annoys you too much, but at least you'll know first hand how it rides rather than going by the interrumor.

I've just finished rebounding my 03 in exactly the same fashion as your doing and the difference in feel is truly amazing. Its funny what you get used too :deal

    Just the countershaft is shagged.

New countershaft sprocket gets the splines chewed out in about 2-3k km's.

Even with retaining compound. Could weld and grind off each time it wears.
But I got the low k motor for a decent price and as I said I dont want to run it till its toast. Plus I don't really know the service history of the bike.

Now you lot have got to come up with a decent ride that I can justify to SWMBO that I need to get the 950 up there for. Start thinking!
