I use either Image Shack or Photo Bucket and either works. I had to experiment a little to figure out which link would become a photo. I use "Direct Link" in Image Shack.

Wish I knew how to do more but I've gotten this far.

When you click on the "insert image" icon and paste your link here, sometimes you need to add ".jpg" to the end to get it to show up.

I have learned how to post a photo but I do not know how to control the size of that photo. Most of the time I get a tiny thumb size and it is not useful. I use mostly Image Shack for hosting photos and they provide limited editing. There is a feature of the Upload Page that allows me to select a size but this has no impact on what I get even if I select a different size. I think I need to resize a photo on my computer with my software before I save it to Image Shack? But I don't know how to do that.

I use a MacBook Pro 13", two years old. Everybody said I'd be able to do things a lot easier with Mac than Windows. This has not been my experience.

There is probably something in the coding of the URL that determines the final size of the image. In the SMugmug URL's you can actually see the O, L, or XL, or you can specify an 800x800, or 1200x1200 or whatever size.

Things are easier on a mac, just not when they are things not associated with MAc's, like picture websites :D But I agree with you, most thingsare not easier, but videos play a damn sight better!

I'm not sure how posting a picture could be any easier on a Mac, but it's pretty easy in general.

Anyways.. here's a cell phone pic from yesterdays ride.

to resize on your computer before uploading:
if you open the pic with the basic "Preview" software, and look at the drop down menus along the top of your screen, one should be called "advanced" or something (i can check when i get home). that drop down menu gives you the option of image size. just edit and "save as", then upload.

Image Shack really doesn't give you links to different sized options? each link should be different for each size I'd think.

good luck!

Everything gets dumped into the Mac through iPhoto. IPhoto becomes the warehouse and editor.
I use SmugMug. That provides an uploader called MacDaddy....
Once the images are in smug the address is copied and pasted into adv...
I back up the whole mess with an external harddrive.

I still cannot figure posting out, I know my way around a garage but I suck on a computer. The bike is done except throttle cables coming from Ca. It came out really nice, very much like the 1973 ISDT bikes of Herbert Schek. I can email photos, not sure how to caption them. I have spent my whole life building and restoring houses, and hold all of the mechanical liscenses, computers weren't a part of my work and it shows. I have a hard enough time with a simple cell phone. Arrrgh

You say that your photos are already in flickr? If so, you should be good to go.

Once you are logged in to flickr and you see the pic you want to post, look for the button that says "Share", above your pic.

Click "Share" and a menu will drop down with some options. There are different ways to proceed now, but I reckon the following method is the easiest:

Choose "Grab the HTML/BBCode", and another drop down menu appears.

A couple more options to go:

Picture size - Medium 800 is pretty safe. Your picture will also function as a link to flickr, so viewers can have a better look at it, if it's much bigger than that.

Lastly, a little bullet point that chooses between HTML and BBCode. This changes the gobbledegook instructions for advrider to display the pic. You don't need to worry about it, but I would choose BBCode.

Now, what you need is this code, displayed in the box. Click on it and it will be highlighted. Copy (the "⌘" key on your mac + the "C" key), and now Paste into your advrider post (the "⌘" key + the "V" key).

The code will appear as text in your message, but click "Preview Post" and you should see your pic. If you're happy, you can now post.
