Hi Orange Crushers can't say enough about a Wings NOS Silencer I just got to replace a worn out silencer on my 950 Adventure. Workmanship is top notch, price is great, and best of all took only 4 days to ship all the way from Slovenia to California USA. Wow! And Gorazd even threw in a spiffy T-shirt in the right size. I agree. I had Leo Vince on my 950 Supermoto, then later an Akropovic full system. My '04 Adventure came with Supertrapp and I swapped them for FMF's. My 05.5 Adventure came with Wings and I think they're the best of the bunch.
Since you've used the top 5 exhaust cans, please tell us why you feel the Wings are the best? I'm thinking about going 2-1 and would like to hear a real world seat-'O-the-pants review of the can options. Thanks!
Quality of construction first, tougher mounting system and...better sounds! Came with regular baffles and spark arrestor baffles. I run the standard baffles. As far as performance? A can is a can is a can.
I was running Akros before which worked very well but are 2X price of Wings. Dont have any experience with the Wings yet but decided to try them out based on others experiences. And Gorazd is an Advrider with a KTM Adventure and specializes in exhaust for KTM Adv/SE and is super quick to respond to email and questions. Workmanship is excellent. Can't wait to try them but I have a busted wing myself at the moment. Check them out: http://www.wings.si/ver3/index.html Mike Z
Actually a busted collarbone farting around on my 530 in a local farmers field. Will be riding again Feb/March next year. MZ
Interesting. I've been thinking of buying a set of cans for my 07 ADV. Considering the Q4's (mostly price). Couple hundred difference btw the Q4's and the Wings - right? Do he Wings sound that much better and or is the quality that much better? Yea, I know, it's a one time thing, but if I do cans and a Rottweiler intake - it all adds - up. Thanks for the advice!
I am another happy Wings owner. I have had other exhausts on other bikes including Remus, Yoshimura and Akrapovic. I love my wings the best for the following reasons, Fit and Finish is excellent, the sound is awesome, the weight savings over the stockers is incredible and I liked the fact that they were something different. Are there cheaper options out there? Yes, but there are also more expensive options as well. In my opinion these were a good value overall and I have been extremely happy. One of my favorite mods I did to my 950.
I've never heard a Q4, but the Wings on both my 950SE and Husaberg came with 2 different baffles, so you have the option of 3 different sound levels. I've heard that the most restrictive baffle is just a touch louder than stock. I run the shorter baffle in both bikes.
Thanks for the chart. Anyone who's owned both Wings and Q4's have thoughts on comparison? I expect the Wings to be of better quality, (cost more), but how do the Q4's and Wings compare on the topics of sound level, and sound tone / type?
FMF's are no where near the quality and quite a bit louder. Expect the spark arrestor to fall out in a year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Another thing to consider when purchasing Wings is, that virtually every piece is available for replacement due to wear or damage. In a very bad crash I damaged both nos/cfec pipes and thought I would have to purchase 2 new pipes for my replacement bike. Through Alternate Cycle who is the Canadian dealer, I bought 2 new titanium sleeves (main body), 1 carbon fibre end cap, and all the special ss rivets to rebuild both damaged pipes- $300 Can- the pipes both look like new and I couldn't be more satisfied
