I was sitting at the computer looking at the great trips some of you FF's have been doing this year...
I NEED some Helmet time now !!!

Sent out a invite and started planning... Lucky for me
The famed... fearless.... fast.... Treadless was up for a roll
The plan was not to get to lost on the way to Kernville.... sat. nites camp spot
and make it home before dark on sunday seemed like a simple plan.

Mike met me in Ventura and we where on your way to the area behind Castic. It a had rained a few day ago so we where hoping for some magic dirt.

The dirt was a little dry but still fun
    [IMG]

    Mike rolling the SE
    [IMG]

I hit a little single track along side of the main road
    [IMG]

    My foot pegs where drag'in
    [IMG]

We stopped at the Rock Inn to get gas and headed for the desert... it's just over the hill
    [IMG]

    Mike enjoy'in the view
    [IMG]

Now we are down in the desert running the power line roads
    [IMG]

    Mike Roll'in the SE
    [IMG]

Stopped by the wind farm some of the windmills are BIG
    [IMG]

The desert was just rite today... no wind... not hot... sunny
    [IMG]

Mike enjoy'in the dirt biker girls... I was licking my wounds from a little get off right before jawbone
I was going to fast and slid out... it seems I'll never learn
    [IMG]

We had lunch and beer at the Jawbone store
    [IMG]

The next leg of the trip was a run thur the piute mtn's
    [IMG]

The dirt on these roads was wet and very fun
    [IMG]

Once we got to about 6000' we started to see the white stuff... and after looking at the maps and the gps
    we where still lost
    [IMG]

After a few turn arounds on some very fun wet roads we found our way
    [IMG]

    This is why we ride
    [IMG]

    Got'a luv Piute mtn road
    [IMG]

We made it to camp rite before dark.... setup the tents and got ready for dinner
Pizza Barn sounded good and it was.... there where a couple of honda chopper's out front
    [IMG]

Mike made fire.... and we drank tequila.... all was right in my world.... what a great DAY
    [IMG]

Well that's all for now I'll put day two up soon

Could have used your help last week end to keep Windy in line. Going out with him without supervision can be not a good thing. :lol3

The time is at hand to say good bye to the family

and throw caution and or my life to wind and head off to meet Bob on what will be the first overniter on the still newish to me SE.
My personal goal was to work on reducing the angle of the learning curve with this bike and stay upright. Oh and try to at least keep Windrat's dust in sight which turned out to be tough because there wasn't much dust to see this weekend. :clap
Due to my already mentioned goals and the distaste for the still not replaced camera, it didn't come out much. And in hind sight there were some great shots left on the table, but I'll post what I've got.

    Heading towards Lake

It really was some good weather

    on up in the Piute

It's getting late and if we're to make it to Kernville by dark we have to keep moving.

So that's where you disappeared to.

You were right behind me so no way you were going to fast. :lol3 The way I see or didn't see it as is the case, it was the rock-sand-gravel pit that someone with a sick sense of humor called a road. Look up pucker in the dictionary & you'll find a picture of that stuff.

Not lost, research for the future. :deal

...Denise and I lived in the Kern River Valley, just around the corner from Kernville, for several years before we moved to southwest Virginia. That part of California is a magical place for motorcycling, and although we did most of our riding on pavement, your RR sure brings back some great memories. Thanks! :clap

    Ok then on with Sunday.
It could have been nice to hang for a bit at what seemed like our own private ground, the season is winding down for the folks at Mountain River this time of year.

The day was shaping up to more of same, great weather and roads = great riding and all at Windrat speed.
After breaking camp and killing breakfast (camera remained dormant for most of the morning) it was off to The Greenhorn to whittle away at that learning curve some more and play in the mud. I was hoping Bob had some mud pics cause I was way to preoccupied with keeping the beast upright in that slimy deep shit. It was great fun. :rayof After couple of conversations about turning back or <strike>forging</strike> wallowing head it was decided that forward was the better direction. Once at the top with Bob wandering about

I figured that a quick walk down to the end of mud section was in order. Bad idea. 7 plus thousand feet = :knary so shots of the good stuff, only this.

    Day two

The day started out nice not cold and the sun was coming up. I setup my new camp stove I need coffee in the morning to get going... after working on the bikes
I was starting to feel a little better plus the meds where starting to work
(note to self stop falling off the bike)

This is a great camp I'll be back
    [IMG]

The plan.... find more magic dirt... be home be for sunset....it's going to be a great day
Had a good breakfest in kernville and we decided to do greenhorn pass

It started out with some nice smooth roads
    [IMG]

A little higher up and magic dirt
    [IMG]

    A littlle higher
    [IMG]

Some times to much of a good thing happens and in this case it was mud.... about 2 miles of it
but we got thur to a nice paved road
    [IMG]

    The snow pic
    [IMG]

There was a nice single track so I had to look
    [IMG]

It got steep and tight plus the snow I turned around after a bit
    [IMG]

Down the hill we found more great dirt roads
    [IMG]

    Treadless Rock'in the SE
    [IMG]

By this time Mike was gett'in his groove on
    [IMG]

We ran some very fun dirt roads and the magic dirt made me think I could ride
    [IMG]

Rancheria dry...dusty... slipery... not magic.... still fun
    [IMG]

Well the dirt party is almost over
    [IMG]

That's all pic's from the trip... we crossed the valley and the race was on to beat the sunset
AAAHH but the 33 was on the way and that's alway fun... I was tricked in to thinking I could
ride and flew down the 33 my angel was busy and some how mike was right behind me at the bottom

What a great day of riding
    Thanks Mike

Better get my last few pic's of the weekend be fore it gets any later. :D

The only slop shot that I took and this was a dry area compared to the rest of it.

Still can't believe between the two us that wee took no mud pics. :dunno

Bob taking the views at a quick stop, something that could have happened more often but then we would have been riding in the dark and with condition of the headlite (it was trying to fall off) on the SE that was not a good thing. The real reason for the race with sun. :deal

For Bob, traffic worked in his favor to separate us on 33 and my tires weren't real happy about life in general so I resorted to using some of the excess hp that was available to me on the straights to reel the rat back in. :lol3
Managed to beat the darkness by a few minutes and ended a very good weekend of riding. :wings

Thanks for the call Bob! It was much needed.

ps: the POS camera will be replaced by the next outing so there will be more action pics next time whenever that is in five or so months.
