thanks!! as requested... taking after chitown and some of the rest of you... first down! :eek1 of many.... waiting on new panels for ChiTown for the tank and then paint... HP2 tank bag fits really well... instead of the bungie cord I'm going to make a strap underneath the tank hidden outta the way... more clean look.... but you gotta admit... the orange bungie cord is a nice touch... uncle's bike gets windscreen, handgaurds (mine... , hopefully going HDB for me) then radiator guards and other misc. shiney things! P.S. - happy easter... he is risen
has anyone ever had a BI*CH of a time to "squeeze" the rear wheel in after fixing a flat or changing tires... etc...
(Hand up.) Yep. I've had a bitch of a ime installing tires on this bike. Just about to do it again. I was hoping you had a changer . What happened on the tip-over there? And what tires did you get? My new Big Block should be here tomorrow.
I do.... used my cycle hill changer today actually... mitas on the rear and metzler 6-day front... front was something I had laying around brand new? :huh lol rear is from my uncles... opted out of getting the big block cause if I wanna patch a tube in the middle of nowhere I wanna be able to spoon the tire off... the mitas is a tire I can almost do by hand! holler when you wanna change tires tip over was actually me laying the bike down (nice and easy!) to drag it outta a rut I made... lol knobbies can collect mud!
Maybe I missed a thread in "Trip Planning" but what route are you going to take? How long will you be gone? Details, man!
Ben, Scored an Ohlins rear shock today too. Can't wait to get that on. (Came from one of our own up-standing citizens..er, uh..inmate.)
long story or short? start here... end here... 25k miles later lucky bastard!!! I gotta improve my front end somehow!
which rack?! Made myself a new one..... rolling thru town stopping at stop signs an idea popped into my head... I needed a rear top rack but really thought it dumb to pay $100 for in a sense a 4mm piece of Alu. Have tons of 3mm laying around (used it inside the pelicans) but no 4mm. Then it hit me! The other day at the scrap yard I picked up myself a RailRoad Crossing sign.... guess what? 4mm Alu! same thing the stop signs are made outta... so the results: whole setup MAYBE costs me 20 bucks?! :huh I'll make some more if anybody would like one cheap! aint she purdy! P.S. - sorry I don't have any "build" pictures... was on a roll! basically Measure holes in dibond to transfer 1) plasma cut plate 2) smooth edges 3) punch holes out 4) mill alu spacers 5) bolt up! but that wasn't enough for one night! I had to kill the cat.... no really.... I did shoot a stray one today..... no joke but the bike just wanted to breath better.... so had to open here up first! pure SWAG but it was a perfect cut!!!!!!!!!!! the CAT material started about another 1-2 mm down... then came the hole saw/wire brush/chisel/beating tool/prybar/new sanding discs/sand wheel/wire wheel... some time later... now that should be better!!!! weld back together... really easy welding too :huh stop any rusting... had enough of me yet?! the Givi crashbars just weren't to my liking so i decided to space them further out... some punched bigger hole washers the best step!!! g'night!
lets go! p.s. - you gotta come by the shop one night... think you may enjoy it... plus we can get some of your modifications going!
Hint: Not the railroad crossing sign... Seriously, the pannier racks look well done. I wish I had the time to monkey around with my bike as much as some of you folks do. Very cool. I'm really liking the caribou mounting system. Easy on/off, and adjustable. The biggest downer for me with the HB's is just how far offset they are but I'm hoping to remedy that soon.
