I'm going to be spending the summer in SE Utah next year and am currently running Anakee 2's which are fine around home but I want to switch to a more knobby tire for Utah. I see a lot of mention of the TKC80 but not a lot about folks running Michelin Deserts. Anyone have any experience with those tires on the F800GS? I expect most of my riding out west will be offroad but there will be some stretches of pavement I will have to negotiate. Thanks for any feedback.
I run Michelin desert fronts on my dirt bikes and they wear to quickly the center row of knobs last forever and the row on either side of center wear down to nothing in 1,500 miles. I run Pirelli MT21s on my Husky and get double the mileage out of the fronts. The Michelin desert rear is very good and lasts up to 4,000 miles. So I would look at Mitas E09 as well since the guys really like them on this forum.
I burned off a few Deserts on the rear of my F8. They are tough as nails, wear well and handle good but are spooky on wet pavement. They were discontinued in 17" a couple years ago so unless you have a line on old stock or an 18" conversion, they aren't really an option anymore.
