Anyone have weather beta on Moab or the Swell area right now? Thinking about getting in some 5MOH this weekend.

    Snow? Current day/night temps?

Bleh... I wanted someone to tell me "sunny and 50's all week". That's colder than the Boulder forecast.

Moab looks dry today, 70% chance of snow/rain tomorrow, Mid to upper 40's over the weekend, another storm expected monday.

    Most restaurants still blow.

Most of the beer is 3.2 also but I've heard there is pretty good music once in a while...

The trick with the beer is to ask for the "other" beer menu at Moab brewery. This bad boy is 8.6% alcohol, and you get to keep the bottle. They even give you a frozen marble coozie at the table.:1drink

I'm planning on riding out there Saturday, just going to bundle up!!

That's Mrs. Princess Pumpkin to you buddy.

Gotta think about this stuff. Even 5MoH gets chilly at a sustained 3rd gear trail pace.

Bunch of silly banter. I think this weekend will be killer! Hero sand, dried to glue like clay, sandstone will be....sandstone I guess. I think I'm riding on Fri. and Sat. then heading to AZ.:evil

They even have cans of real beer now! 15 cent wings Mon-Wed. and $5 any burger on the menu Thursday. You guys are late by about 3 days we were enjoying 45-55 highs, sunny with little wind through Dec.

Snow here now. I'd say very unlikely you guys can ride 5moh next week, it's 3000' higher than moab if I remember right.

We just got back from there on Monday. We had a small amount of snow on us around Thompson Springs on Friday. We had partly cloudy on Saturday and sunny on Sunday in the Chimney Rock area. Temps were around 35 for the high. We had premo conditons for traction and no dust or mud. I doubt you get into Twin Knolls area and 5MOH. You'll have snow at that elevation and the storm yesterday and today will have made it worse. Good Luck.

Just one flaw to your thought. Snow on top of slick rock does not work very well. Since 90% of 5MOH is Slick Rock, no good.

Ayup. Also keep in mind that the roads in the Swell are unimproved. The 10 mile drive off the Interstate would be slip'n and slid'n. I've had to chain up my van to get out of there when it started raining in the middle of the night.

I would suggest sticking around Moab. Elevation is lower, and there is more sand and rock than in the Swell.

Dozer - Sounds like fun. I wanted to head out there with Matt but bikey was still in pieces. Did you guys actually hit 5MoH this time? Looks like that was the last chance for this year.

So mylsmkj - you know of good trails in AZ?

Btw, what the hell is a "mylsmkj" anyway?
