    This is simply intended to get the conversation started...

    KTM currently have a unique market position and offer undiluted thrills in a market fraught with increased complexity and weight. They build exciting machines for consumers who place performance and visceral thrills above heated gimbaled latte holders.

    A lot of people have expressed what they Don't want from KTM for the next generation Adventure bikes.
    Let's tell them what we do want.

    KTM, please keep the bikes; Amazing Off-Road, LIGHT, Simple and an Absolute Blast to Ride!!!

    I see "improved lights" in every model... what's the problem with the lights? The 990 has great lights IMHO

    Not sure if you get the US or Euro reflector setup down in Chile but the US model headlight is crap.

    Oh and a better OEM seat would be great too.

    My bad, I forgot about the EU/US differences. Yep, in Chile we get EU bikes.

    Finally make a 690 Adventure.

    I'd like a smaller lighter 650 twin.

    More fuel capacity. Less BS to do an oil change and different wheel size options.

    Fcuk the next generation.
    I demand an end the price gouging and poor spares back up - NOW.
    Lets get the basics straightened out before we circle jerk over some KTM fantasy machine.

    I agree on price gouging! Parts are an absolute rip off in Australia.

    As far as a KTM Fantasy machine, lower seat, for short ass riders like me.

    Yep. Rip a new arsehole for the Australian distributor. Price gouging pricks that they are. The service is so bad, they ought to be paying us for the waiting time.

    Hey KTM ......

    Are you listening, KTM?

    Meanwhile, I'm having fun, ripping weight out of my 950 SE. A kilo here, a kilo there. I've added some back too - I want decent lighting, so I've built a twin 7" headlight setup. I want decent weight carrying ability, so I can actually do some adventure riding - so I'm fixing that subframe that was designed by an idiot.

    So - next bike.... if my blood stops boiling over the local price gouging.... and I get to stop relying on US friends to source my spare parts (quicker and much, much cheaper that I can get them in Australia)... and its a KTM.... I want

    Better lighting - if I have to slab it, I'd rather do that at night, so that I can spend more time on the decent trails. Oh yeah... and wiring to the lights that can actually handle the load.

    Better seat..... why you bastards want to give everyone a sore arse is beyond me

    Better switchgear - I've just junked the KTM originals and gone to aftermarket gear - I actually like to be able to use the horn and the kill switch

    Less weight, lower... toolkit in a waterproof package in the sump guard, lithium iron battery, etc

    Get rid of the glitches - don't mount sidestands and sump guards to the engine cases - mount the voltage regulator where it is cooler - that sort of thing.

    I know this is on the adventure bikes but this maybe applicable for next generation bikes as well...

    standardize more parts with similar screws for easier maintenance. I don't want different screwdrivers just to take out one spare part.

    get blackdog's side stand relocator and make that a standard - why you want to bolt in the side stand to the engine is beyond me.

    yes, get decent controls. It's an art to switch lights on and off and honk the horn on my 950 se.

    re-incarnate the 950 se with a 1199cc engine and make a smaller 690cc twin for it!

    Bigger tanks pls!

    Yeah I second everything what the OP wrote except I think that for the RC8 Adventure, 19/17 tubeless combo would be better.

    All I really want is a new light Adventure, I don't care if it's a big LC4 or a small LC8. Basically, a modernized 640 Adventure... and I guess that KTM already knows that there is significant interest here on ADV. Question is, is there in the "real world" - and so far, at least to KTM, the answer seems to be:"No!". Up to now, I guess the controllers at Mattighofen are also a bit afraid that sustaining two Adventure lines would eat into their net profit

    I love my 990 Adventure, but she is a bit of a handful in the dirt... for me. So, I just have to learn to handle her better, ride more often and just improve my skills. What I definitely don't want or need is an even heavier Adventure bike marketed at the GS crowd... although, from a marketing point of view that might make sense to KTM.

    Hey, KTM, fix the one and only thing that stops me buying one:

    * Fix your fuel usage.

    * Fix your fuelling.

    Bluntly, the above issues spoil one of the best bikes on the market.
