Dakar Tours

G'day all. Can anyone recommend one of the tour groups or charters that do a tag along tour with the Dakar? I want something that is pretty relaxed and not too "race pace" as I want to see a bit of the countryside. Geez, I'm keen.....
Thanks

The guys at Rawhyde are great to ride with. I can't afford their price of entry for the Dakar one but the other rides I've done with them were excellent: http://www.rawhyde-offroad.com/dakar.html

I've got a mate who is over there at present on a Dakar tour, $10k including return flights, all accom and meals supplied, bike to ride and all gear, fuel spares etc, if he doesn't fell like riding for a day the bike is on the support truck and he can sit in it for the day also. Gets to see the Dakar racing only every 2nd day apparantly as the Dakar speed is so great they have to leap frog a lot of it to keep ahead of them, but I think they still have some huge riding days to do themselves.
He did invite me which would have been awesome but time doesn't allow me, at $10k it sounds like a steel for what is offered.

Have you got more details of this tour? Which company is it with?

Cheers,

Help in Lima

Everyone we need your help. Myself and 5 friends have flown across from Australia to follow the Dakar. The hire company we were supposed to get the bikes from is in Bolivia and apparently unable to to get the bikes to us due to a change in vehicle export rules in Bolivia.
We have spent 10000 dollars each to do this and the hue company is unable to offer any help and just said sorry we can't help. Here's your money back.

This is not what we want.

Can anyone offer a solution to getting the bikes.
We are prepared to buy them if required but are unsure of the procedure required.

Any and all advice appreciated. Our trip of a lifetime is going balls up.

I don't have the specs on this trip he is on as I never had the time to go so never bothered finding out more. when he returns i'll find out more for future tours. I'd have loved to go but just didn't have the spare time.

Thanks for the links and info. There might be some ads on the Dakar coverage on SBS?

Dakar mobile app

I've noticed that the Dakar mobile app is not in the Australian App Store (to follow the race). Does anyone know how to get it?
