    Hi All,

I am building up a 1980 it175G model to race classic HH's, The stock suspension is rubbish. Can you swap the front and rear suspension from a similar era yz without too much trouble?

Lol please excuse the spelling in the title.

Or buy a YZ and slip that motor in it.

yes and no as some of the YZ rear shocks are fatter and wont fit without modding the mount but if you find one just messure it up

i was looking at(years ago) any of the IT/YZ/DT's with the triangle swing arm models to see what will or wont fit and as there are a number of models there will be some differences

the front end will fit but it wont have a speedo drive

Grimmboy on the board swapped yz front forks on my (then his) XT500.

SO maybe ask him for advice.

no sorry just measure the swingarm bolt(as that goes through the frame) and you "should" be able to make it fit

I'd venture a set of Race Tech Emulators or Ricor Intiminator valves, fresh, correct rate springs and a rebuild would upgrade the stock stuff above the same era YZ parts anyway. Is the rear shock rebuildable? Race Teck Gold Valve and revalve it for your needs.

I have 43MM forks from an '82 490 on my YZ465 fitted with Race Tech Emulators/springs and bushings. Huge improvement over the stock stuff. They (R-T) make a shock for the YZ line so I imagine if that kinda $$$ is in the budget they'll fix up yer IT too.
