A mate of mine lost his stepson in a bike accident at Yandina on Saturday morning, 8th April 2006. The matter is currently before the Coroner, so I can't say too much, but the old 'young fella going too fast on a bike' line is being peddled by the police, regardless of evidence presented that a core-drilling rig had left debris on the corner in the period leading up to the crash. Locals report another bike accident, rider OK but unknown, on the same corner the night BEFORE the fatality, so I'm posting this in the faint hope that a Sunshine Coast inmate may have knowledge of the accident which occurred on the Yandina-Bli Bli Rd, near the Burton Rd intersection on the evening of Friday 7th April 2006. If you can help in any way, I'd appreciate a PM! <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
I can't help with that particular incident. I hope it works out OK for your mate. But on a similar note, we had a fatality in Melbourne last week caused from the sounds of things by a four wheel drive turning across the path of the motorcyclists at an innner subruban intersection. Cut immediately to the police spokesperson response - "if people think they can take these powerful machines out in the country on weekends and open them up they've got another thing coming ...." WTF??? OK, we have had a bad run down here lately and he might have been generalising but I am getting really sick of this focus on speed when there are so many other issues.
The one in Melbourne sounds similar to what happened here last week when a car turning left from the middle lane ran over and killed a 61yo woman on a scooter who happened to be riding in the left hand lane which is a bus lane. Iirc the police spokesman described it as an unfortunate accident. To me it actually sounds like a pretty clear culpability by the car driver. Maybe I have my facts wrong... Excess speed seems to be an indefensible claim, for whatever the speed if the conditions are wrong then excess speed, even if it is below the legal limit, will be a contributing factor. It therefore should be summarily dismissed...
In this instance, copper may have been referring to the rider who ran wide into the bullbar of a 4wd on the Myers Creek rd around the same time. I was surprised the reporting of the scooter fatal in Surrey Hills was a "scooter hit by 4wd..."
Hi, hope you don't mind, I've linked to this thread on another forum that has a lot of members in Queensland. link. It sounds like your mate deserves a hand. I'll nuke it if you want me to, but i figured the more awareness, the better.
Thanks Mike, don't mind at all. There's some jiggery-pokery going on with this and the poor bugger could use a break, so the more forums we can get it on, the better. If other inmates are members of other forums, feel free to cross post, if you think it suitable! <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden"><input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
What sort of Jiggery-poker you talking about, i use that road often, was a good short cut when it was dirt but that was a while back, still a good short cut now but a lot more traffic on it. Locky.
Have emailed a link to this thread to a riding mate of mine who lives just off the Bli Bli - Yandina road. He may know something. hes lived there for quite awhile. Craig
