I have been considering a trials bike. I have a bum right knee that does not like to kick start the bike...so I get off and kick with my left leg. Somewhat of a distraction. Who makes a bike with the left side kick?
You may get used to kicking right side with your left leg. I know a few people with left kickers who stand to the side and kick with their right.
I'm looking into making something like this but need a left side kickstart. Looks like a Scorpa Easy is LHK, too. any others out there?
Do you reckon that thing started out as one bike or is it an abomination of dead bike parts... looks like a Frankenbeta
Scorpa Easy is more like broken kick Please,please, everyone stop thinking that you need a saddle on a trials bike,you don't,you just freakin' stand up. yes,you will get tired some at first but just stop and rest,it's not a big deal. When you have a trials bike you ride to obstacles and then get off and inspect them,then "session" the section, moving on to the next. That big valley in the middle of a trialler is where you squat when doing an impossible climb,it has a reason for being there. Also,don't put Knobbies on your trials bike,they do not work as well as trials tires.
If you want modern it will have to be a Beta... if you fancy a twinshock then SWM, Ossa are amongst those that have left kickers. I now have a knackered left knee but have just changed from a Beta Evo to a 1981 SWM..!! The SWM does have much less compression than the Beta did though :)
Its creator actually calls it frankenbeta. I think its a fuelly with a long ride tank, some kind of seat with some luggage underneath. He tried to make it more stable for trail speeds by adding the scotts and by dropping the rear to flatten the rake out. DIY ossa explorer? A few threads tout trail riding on a trials bikes and this guy is just addressing some of the drawbacks. I'd love to have a 175 pound trailbike and it looks like this could work. I tried to make a kx100 work but failed. Had a chance at husky123s pampera a couple of years ago but didn't think i needed it at the time. Bought his 4RT instead then my leg went bad. I hardly ever sit down in the woods so the seat isn't a big deal but i need a left kicker or an estart
I know they're heavy, but a Honda CRF230 or Yamaha 230 might be suitable. I had the Honda for awhile and it was nice little trail bike, as long as you don't push it too hard. Don't really notice the weight riding, until you have to pick it up.
