so now anyone who wants to get new KTM 990adv got only few more months to get one of them as introducing 1190adv means end of 990adv production!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It looks like KTM made the same mistake as Honda replacing Africa Twin with Varadero

    WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the 990 was still in production.

The 1190 is just gravy on top of the model lineup.

this is what one of the ktm dealers sent me when i asked if they will still make 990.
    Hi Peter

I would say that the 990 ADV will be sold out in march next year ,

I could get you one now and sell you the bike at 0% finance as long as you don't want to borrow more than £5000

Please give me a call and we can discuss

and that's a quote from different forum:

"Well Gentlemen - I just recently had a chat to the head of KTM Switzerland and I am sorry to inform you, that the days of our beloved 950/990 are numbered. KTM already stoped manufacturing the 950/990 Adventure. The same goes for the SM-T. Both bikes will be available as long they have them stocked in their warehouse."

Some of uk dealers already discounted the prices of 990adv

Apparently true. KTM has stopped production of the 990 Adv. Shame.

    I was thinking the same!:cry

And I asked the question to my trusted KTM pusher. It is confirmed...990 ADV out of production as soon as the 1190 is on the market for £13.000!:eek1

Well my 990 is on the market!:lol3

Well, I love my 950 and will not be parting with it. For me it's the perfect dual sport. You have a bike small enough to ride most any where, but a bike big enough to ride 2-up.

Question is - what about the spare parts?! I mean, what if I wanna rebuild my engine and just buy new cylinder heads or something, or they stopped that too?! :huh

    Cheers,

When one model have stopped of manufacturing , the company have to offer parts for a some kind of period. This period is 10 years, I think

10 years is a very long time,

For industrial machines it is 7 years after stopping the production and i think this will be the same for the rest.

    Get over it guys

    KTM have moved on.

    By the way I have a 2003 640 A , dissapointed no 690 A but I can still get parts for mine.

Good luck with whatever choice you make.

Personally I wouldnt mind having an 1190 R to see what I think about it.

The United States of America mandates that all parts must be available for 10 years. After that, some stuff could become unobtanium, at which point some of the gurus on here will have to step up and start machining some parts...

Of course cross referencing other makes and models on some things will help out. Car folks do this a lot. Factory fuel injector for my toy, $600. Volvo fuel injector, same part number, $110. The 9X0 will survive a LONG time after the 2012 models are 10 years old.

OEM parts are still available for KTMs produced in the early 90s. 990 parts aren't gonna be an issue for a long, long, time.
