I just noticed what 45 t sprocket looks like after 9k miles. It's pretty much gone. Stock 42 was good for 20k. I have iron man 45 sitting on the shelf, but what else out there which would last? BTW, chain is fine, and front sprocket looks new. I got that sprocket from rmatv, made by drive system usa
I've had good luck with these http://www.ktmtwins.com/ktm-950-990-adventure-super-enduro-stealth-rear-sprockets and dirt tricks just came out with a sprocket for the big lady.
Well,I was sort of saving it for some long and cool trip(plus new chain) and right now bike is getting 2k miles a month of commute miles. I guess it doesnt matter. Stealth sprocket is about 89 at RMatv(and there usual 10% off), so I just get that for now.
I've had good luck with Drive Systems sprockets. They have a steel 45t rear for $60. http://www.drivesystemsusa.com/p/47...5-black-steel-rear-sprocket---ktm-950990.html
good to know, i just put it on. Sonoran - if you look closely (hard to see) at the picture in my first post that sprocket was made by drive system usa.
Personally I've had excellent performance from the harden steel AFAM Drive systems USA sprockets. However my expectation is to get somewhere between 10-15k miles out of a complete new set. This is with a DID x-ring chain, running ELF moto chain paste. The fact that the front sprocket is not showing the same level of where is odd, usually the CS sprocket will show signs of wear before the rear.
I have tried many different kinds of sprockets on my thumpers. Cheap, expensive, colourful, and they are definitely not all the same for wear. Hands down, Ironman sprockets are the most economical for my usage. I get 3 times the wear of a normal sprocket for twice the price. I buy a chain/sprocket set and install all at once. The set lasts me around 24000 kilometres of mixed riding on my 450mxc. I experienced the same durability with my WR450 and 2 XR400r. I have only run my 990R for 2 months so I cannot report wear for it yet.
