Pete. I plan on riding through the Flinders and Gammon and then if there is someone at Birdsville, I will go north and have a drink with em. Will you be bringing ya mate on his GS? I rekon we could relax the rule about non Honda Twins. Might get some of the "turn coats" on their DRs to show up. I think the road from the East is closed, but the rest are fine. JIM
the trouble is these sort of things really need some one to drive it and stir people up & get em keen. With me not being able to get there & Dan now otherwise occupied the momentum has slackened somewhat
JimKat, If you get as far as Parachilna the week before, ie 8,9 & 10 April, the SA ADV and DBW riders are having a 3 day get together, based at the Angorichina Villiage (Between Para and Blinman). About 60 in attendnace, and the plan is to split into smaller groups (according to ambition and capability) and radiate out for day rides, then back to camp each night. I'm sure you would be welcome. Cheers Tim
Gday Jim, Yep ill be there, not on the GS this time but a DR650. Hopeing to see a big roll up. Who else is keen and comeing ?????????
Not sure if I will make it. Shit hit the fan at work yesterday and we have to more than halve the workforce :eek1 or 7 men to 3 men. Not sure if I should cancel my holidays or not. Maybe if I do get there I could be one of the "turn coats" on a DR. Still keeping the Transalp Just want to play on the new DR I have just built up. and proof the Transalp still has a home and is being looked after only when the DR took up all the shed space
Why do you call it a poof? We might be in the same boat Brent, just found out my super hasn't been paid for a while. Time's are tough that's for sure
G'day Danjet600, As far as kits go, you can purchase the seal / gasket kit (part number 16010MM9621). They are quite expensive. 1 x kit per carburettor. The other known kit is a Dyno Jet kit (part number 1138). The dyno jet kit from the '89-'90 USA models will fit, but the retainers in the CV slides need to be modified to accept the adjustable type needles in the kit. If you need other standard parts such as diaphragm springs, etc - then you'll need to order them individually through a Honda dealer. Cheers, Dan.
thanks for the info i have to pull the carbs off so want to kit them while i'm at it, bike has been sitting for awhile
I had a ride last weekend on Thunder Dans 600/650/Boano beastie on the weekend. What a sweet ride !!!
Nice package arrived in the mail. $ at parity was too good to resisit and that bloody boom box get in the way of shocky removal. I have it all fitted but no shocky as its off for a rebuild so other than sounding like a small block Chevy with the LeoVince can I can't report any benefits..yet
. That would be krekt Greg The most surprising thing about te original headers was how the welds on the exhaust flange rings at the top of the pipes are crap and block a significant amount of the header pipe. With clean welds and 2mm bigger pipe dia its gotta be better. The stats Arrow provide indicate a nice midrange hp boost.
I have just received my eBay Arrow headers for my 650 swap into my '87 Alp. They came from a vendor 'Mauro' in Italy. I also ordered a set of Givi crash bars for the TA and a further set from my TDM 900. All up, with postage it came to about $650, which I was very happy with. Chris, the mounting tab at the bottom of the collector - am I right in assuming that has no purpose if fitted to the older model frames?
NOt familiar with the older frames B. Mine has a bolt for the collectors under the Y - junction so I used it. One thing I've noticed that done up to 25nm the header brackets distort pretty badly. I've seen it refered to on OS sites, esp XRV.org. I'm just assuming its normal. Got my shocky back do time to get some road miles on it.
