Here's the thread link for the 2012 Loose Nut Dual Sport Ride in Southern Indiana on Nove 3 & 4, 2012. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=822082 Here's the gps tracks and waypoints for this ride: I'll try to figure out how to post this in the ride thread also. Gonna be a GREAT ride.
I've got a Nuvi 550. I love many things about the NUVI, including a better price that a Zumo and other Garmin products that allow downloaded products. Unfortunately, the Nuvi can't use the track supplied above. My Nuvi uses routes only, not tracks.:ddog:ddog And then it only allows 200 via points per route. I took the awsome file above and ran it through Basecamp to make routes suitable for Nuvi's. The routes are not "perfect" and may show the purple line a couple hundred ft off the road at times. I ranthe entire route on the computer and I did a test run on my Versys for over an hour. This is a good solution for those who have GPS's that are limited. The file includes all needed waypoints and it includes 6 routes. Saturday 1, and Saturday 2, and Sunday 1, and Sunday 2, also include 2 alternate route sections that are identified (Interlake knobbies and Lynnville Loop) Let me know if these work for you who can't take advantage of the track file above. It's still a .gpx file. and it seems to work with Basecamp.
THIS POST IS FOR NUVI USERS ONLY. The original post by LooseNut is perfect for you guys with GPS that handles tracks, us Nuvi users kindof enjoy mental frustrations that come from dealing with routes. If you handle tracks, then ignore the last two posts. I had trouble this morning with the Nuvi version Rev 0 above, which I generated in Basecamp and it works just fine on my Nuvi. But as I'm trying to test it with other equipment this morning, I'm not seeing the "routes", which you NUVI guys really need. They show up on my Nuvi 550, but maybe the Basecamp software stripped the routes portion of the file during the download. I found a copy of older Mapsource software, which seems to do better with "sharing" of routes. I think this version 1 will be more helpful if use use MAPSOURCE! Again, let me know if I need to clear anything up on this version. Use Rev 1 if you use Mapsource!!! !Use Rev 0, if you use Basecamp.
