    asked him straight up,

“Are you afraid of death?” He looked me straight in the eyes and replied,

    “No.”

    That's fucking courage

With all due respect, I don't think he meant it negatively but was actually inferring to how strong that bond of friendship is. That it takes courage to ask a friend such a question and be able to receive an honest answer. At least that's how I read it.

I didn't read any negative overtones in that at all. He didn't need to use the f--- word to make the point/statement but I didn't see it as a negative post.

Thanks for taking us for this ride Dave.:clap

When hearts and minds are of the same, nothing needs to be said or ask , it a bond of friendship, brotherhood & love that spans eternity

Blessed by the almighty are those of us who share such a bond.

Amazing group of friends. I don't think many people have that many good friends.

haven't been around adv for a bit...glad I came back and found this.

Dave, I can't believe that you're anything close to an introvert from your travels and your writing...but man, reading about how you left the party early was like I was reading my own thoughts...I lost count years ago about how many parties and how many gatherings I left b/c my own thoughts turned into chest tightening anxiety..and I regret every time..

Introverts unite!!! (In our own spaces away from everyone else, of course :evil )

Kerry, I've never met you but I remember you from Dave's other RR and even seeing the old pics from that RR show what a good time you and everyone else was having that trip...My thoughts are with you, my friend.

Well Dave, for an introvert you do a pretty good job of sharing yourself on advrider. I know it's tough when you're in a group where you don't know them but they know each other. Nothing odd about that.

    Carry on. :D

Dave you are anything but socially inept. I've found you to be very socially engaging and very easy to converse with.

...the older I get, the more introverted I become. I used to be a lot more social, involved with groups, clubs, etc... now I'm happy staying in my own comfort zone while still reaching out on occasion. Crowds of people you don't know certainly can be awkward.

I don't mean to clutter up your thread, but I'm reminded of Bob Seger's song:

    "Travelin' Man"

Up with the sun, gone with the wind
She always said I was lazy
Leavin' my home, leavin' my friends
Runnin' when things get too crazy
Out to the road, out 'neath the stars
Feelin' the breeze, passin' the cars

Women have come, women have gone
    Everyone tryin' to cage me
Some were so sweet, I barely got free
    Others, they only enraged me

Sometimes at night, I see their faces
I feel the traces they've left on my soul
Those are the memories that make me a wealthy soul
Those are the memories that make me a wealthy soul

Travelin' man, love when I can
Turn loose my hand 'cause I'm goin'
Travelin' man, catch if you can
But sooner than later I'm goin'

Sometimes at night, I see their faces
I feel the traces they left on my soul
Those are the memories that made me a wealthy soul
Those are the memories that made me a wealthy soul
