Nothing quite like 20,000+ carved pumpkins and a drunk frat boy sitting in a open second story window. Beer in hand of course... :freaky

Yeah, I'd never seen this before, and I only accidentally ended up attending it this year.

    Adjusting the chain . . .

The two pings at the end of the swingarm, one is 4mm from the end of the swingarm (on center), and the other is 5.5mm from the end of the swingarm.

Am I supposed to use the pings as a better guide for aligning the rear axle vs. the other marks on the swingarm?

    Thanks

    "Pings"? :dunno

There are pins embedded in the swingarm for alignment purposes...they are generally pretty accurate...a good cross-reference is to measure center of axle to center of swingarm pivot.

I'm keeping my fork brace on for stiffness. I believe it adds stiffness. No need to let more flex creep in - its substantial enough.
Certain old 60's/70's enduros had a stiffener there (Yamaha DT's?), so I don't think its too out of place, although it may bother some to the eye.
    Looks purposeful to me. JMO..

    Here, found a piccie,,

    Edit: swapped out photo..

I kind of figured you were over that way. I used to come back through southern Ontario as a short cut when I lived north of Detroit in Fenton.

I had a '73 DT250, it didn't come with a fork brace. The fender in the pic is aftermarket too.

In this photo they're described as "pop marks" . . .

    Ha ha.
Well. I have no complaints at all with T 7 at all.

Tip. I mount the guide upside down underneath, so I don't have to remove the chain guard.

You are correct. A couple of adds from the era. Improvements I'd call them.

The T7 looks good, but how hard can chain adjustment be fellas?

    Chain adjustment is easy.
Getting it aligned in line with the rear sprocket is a little trickier, especially when I can only just see the marks with my old and failing eyes.
The tool takes the gestimate out of it I guess. Close enough or correct?
I bought the tool and use it and I can see at a glance if its correct.

I used "T 7" is an abbreviation of Torpedo 7 which is a shop in N.Z. which sells some bike stuff. They may have other outlets elsewhere.

Must run now and get all my jobs done as it looks like a good day tomorrow for a big ride. :D
