two thousand dollar bucks for entry is challenging my justification for this, what seems to be epic event.

Yeah, it will do that. I guess it is a game-changer for many. However, I would challenge you to find a rally with as many "special stage" miles as this one for even close to that. Or figure out how much it would cost to run an offroad race or stage rally season and still you probably wouldn't come close to running as many race miles.

You could most definitely just ride on your own down there for much less. And that is what many people do.

    two quick questions

    1) Has anybody raced in the ATC/three wheelr class in the past ? or is this a new class ?...the 1000 is way out of the question for me but I really want to see what they end up doing in the Sept.event and maybe I can make that one in '14

A well set up Honda 350X seems like it would be a pretty good rig for its reliablility...but a Tri-Z or Tecate would rip

    2) How many MC guys trailer the transits ? rough percentage ?

I've been there all three years and have never seen an ATC or Quad. I about about the Tecate, I'm thinking an 88 or 89 250r FourTrax would be cool...but you may be wishing your were on 2 wheels about day 2.5.

here is prices from just ONE of the tour groups running in baja

    General Pricing:
    3 Days - 4 Nights $1895
    5 Days - 6 Nights $2895
    7 Days - 8 Nights $3795

and thats just that.. a tour .. not a race

if you look up how much the entry is for the vegas to reno and times it by 4 this race is just about even cost wise only it runs the peninsula !!

You can add another $400.00 for the Mag7 pit crew and around $200.00 for fuel.
I rode the event 2 years ago when the entry fee was $1200.00 and with travel expense and motel rooms, I spent about $3000.00...:eek1

why pay 400 bucks to people who arent there? This year there will be a camping bivouac.. tacos are cheap.. team up with someone for gas and expenses

look at it as a vacation... with a race

Planning on skipping mag7 this year and just getting a bigger tank. Infuriating how useless they were.

I'm going with 6.3 gal tank w/Pemex stations and no Mag 7 after the horror stories I heard...............That is if I get to race.....seems to be a snafu with my sign up. They are telling me that they didn't get my payment when I got and email from them saying they did :huh ......More importantly have not got to pick my race number because of that.....that's the most important thing outside of beer right :clap

Yes agree would rather spend the money on a larger tank and have something to show for it. I was one of many of the unlucky guys that ran out of gas mid stage. Not again.
