Evening, morning, whatever all!!!! I've searched the web looking for pics of BMW cafe racer conversions - found quite a few - wondering if anybody here online has some or links to others? I want to start a project bike to go alongside Heinrich (my 05 R1200GS) whilst I go to college part time for the next few years - an incentive to study I guess you could say!!! Failing that, I'll strip the damaged K1100RS I bought two weeks ago and make her into a roadster....... Cheers!
Here's one I made out of a 83 r65 a few years ago. The main changes were the /5 headlight shell the old speedo space fit the tach perfectly and I used a sigma bicycle speedo, the raask rearsets, glass from the past seat for a triumph, telefix clip ons and of course the wonderful rennsport style alloy tank that Evan Wilcox made for me. A fellow from Chicago bought it from me and continues to make improvements. JT
Heres the cafe racer I've built over the last few years. Started as an R75/6. Now has R80 top end and gearbox, later model twin disk front end, Conti pipes, custom single seat, toaster tank from the USA models and RS bars. Next move is to fit delorto carbs kindly donated by my old mate Andy_gadget. Here's it is.
The ultimate cafe Beemer is Gregor's (sakurama here). It is unsurpassed, even unapproached. It is arguably beyond what could be called a cafe bike. Get the whole story at Team Incomplete. I still kinda like the old boxers -- and they do sound sweet with Contis or Dunstalls.
I love the look of the Toaster tank - not very popular down here in OZ. Im thinking of fitting a motard 17" rim and single brake with a new front end to a R100RS (the 70hp model) and a R1150/1100 17" 150 section rear wheel, with a Toaster tank - black everywhere, cut weight everwhere.... should have a great handling (sticky sport rubber!) nice power/weight ratio Boxer that looks great too! just thoughts.....
totally agree. i've read the story of this bike several times. i didn't realize the owner was a member here. that bike is a masterpiece. incredible job gregor.
