thanks, but we really need Marsh Tiger to clarify where I lead us astray from the REAL HoCat... but it was fun working around that gate eh? By the way Bart, you've got "point" this Sunday in Francis Marion. Clint
Here's thread just started to post details of the weekend rides I've been trying to organize lately. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?p=18688306#post18688306 subscribe to keep updated, and send PM w/ email to be added to the email group for last minute updates, like "somebody remember to bring a gas siphon hose this time".
I just attached a new MEOW GPX file to post #5 in the HO-CAT's thread in Laying Down Tracks-East. I changed the route from near North up to near Swansea. It now goes through a more rural and scenic area with a good bit more dirt. Saddlecreek Lane and Poole's Mill Road are very nice!
Your dedication to this is much appreciated! I hope to have the K60's mounted this weekend. I may not be able to ride the MEOW until later in June though. But I'm looking forward to it. Maybe I can rally Clint's crew to join me.
Clint's group? Dude, All this riding around Charleston is your fault. I'm just the Pain in the butt who's emailing all the time. You'll live the K-60's , but air that rear way down for hard packed clay and gravel or it's flat-track sliding. We're taking some of HoCat and meow on way up tomorrow early. Clint
Your dedication to this is much appreciated as well! K60's are mounted. I'll keep 'em aired down. Seriously, I'm happy to get the email, even though I haven't been able to join you in a while. I hope to join y'all soon, Clint. I spent all of my kitchen passes on a trip to the blue ridge last weekend. 931 miles, 4 days. I'm working on the pictures now. I hope to have them up early next week. Y'all have fun!
I havent made the trip {YET!}, but it looks like the HO-CAT comes pretty near Broxton Bridge Plantation. They have a campground complete with bath house, I dont recall what they would charge a primitive camper, but hook-up sites are very nicely priced. Nice place, cycle friendly {equestrians may be there, so use good cycle manners!} My club holds a DS there in conjunction with an enduro January each year.
So there was a small streak... (which was a first for me) A DL and a DR a really nice KLR and this guy... who was pretty slow, we never saw him again after the photo stop. I wonder if he is alright? there was adventure involved... what sign? Oh, that sign. there was plenty of beautiful country roads a decent lunch at the pig and some great private trails You FF's that didn't join us on this ride missed out!
Great write up, MT, you have a way with lens and letters. Ditto to those who missed the ride. The dirt roads were in PERFECT condition... well, a little dusty.
+1 I came very close to playing hooky after lunch today and heading for the HO-CAT. The only thing that stopped me was the sunset at 5:30 p.m. thing. I may just do it tomorrow, though.
Hope you have a good ride! Only thing keeping me from the HOCAT is changing zip codes. Maybe Monday...
Some scenes from today's ride: From the MEOW: Downtown Cottageville. I ate lunch at the cafe across the street from here: More from the MEOW: There are just a few deer tracks in this particular shot, but they had been having a party on this road: A large flock of Canadian Geese were enjoying the late afternoon sun:
I added a 98-mile loop off of the MEOW (see cyan-colored track below). I'd say it's about 70-80% dirt. See post #10 here for details and GPX file.
AWESOME!!! This SC adventure trail thing is turning into something! Thanks for you hard work and contribution Now, if i could just get some time to ride...
