    No kidding!

So Ive been looking for replacement plastics. And Meier appears to make them, it seems like they don't sell them in color "red" but "orange?" Anyone know more about this? Is it truly orange, or just a naming convention?

    Quick question:

    1. How much oil does the Zaar need?
    2. DO you need to take out the drain bolt on the frame too if you drain oil? Or just the engine one?
    3. If I want to replace the oil with 20w50 do I need to change the oil filter too? If there was 10w40 Synth in?

    Much appreciated

Drain the frame and engine. Occasionally take the screen out from the frame and clean it as well. Change the filter in my opinion; it is cheap. I change it every oil change but every other should be fine. Get three quarts.

When I do an oil service with filter change I use 2 1/2 quarts of oil. It's a bit more than specified but the bike doesn't care

To get as much of the dirty oil out you must drain both the engine AND the frame. You should also remove the front frame down tube screen to inspect and clean it

    Yes

what are people using for a heat shield on the Xr600r, if they have a giant loop bag? Melted side number plate as it pushed against pipe.

    Hey there, Onederer.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. Unfortunately, my post was not so great as I didn't recap well enough. My bike has an XR600R motor with a HRC hi-comp 628 kit and FMF Ti exhaust. Top of airbox is wide open. The carb is an FCR, brand new from Sudco. All jets are genuine Keihin. It is a pumper carb, but giving it a squirt doesn't fix the problem so I am wondering if the good folks at Sudco have me going in the wrong direction: richer when I should go leaner.

I hate sounding so damned stupid, but nothing seems to be working. I can't imagine that my bike, with larger displacement and higher compression, would need a leaner pilot than a stock bike. I've had a 42 in it (as many here and elsewhere have used to good effect) and it wouldn't run without putting the idle screw all the way in. Going larger helped, but I still have the idle almost all the way in. Sure sounds like i need to go larger, but Sudco is saying I shouldn't need to.

Beechum: I haven't read the plug yet, as I haven't been able to get it to run on the idle circuit. I figured I'd start reading the plug once I was reasonably certain that all circuits were in play.

I'll get it figured out eventually, and will report back once I do for the benefit of those who come after.

Just put the carb back together. it wasn't starting and the idle jet was clogged. I blew it out with air from my mouth and it looked perfect. bike only sat a couple months. California gas sucks. Bike absolutely RIPS now and starts up easy. Makes me want to sell my R6 and throw some money at this Honda. (Race tech is down the street from my house) :D
