September 7th A few pictures from a little day trip over to the West coast of Scotland on the 7th of September. Nothing spectacular I'm afraid, but it was a nice relaxing ride. Achnambeithach, Glencoe. The Chancellor, Glencoe. Corran lighthouse. Corran. The Corran ferry coming in. Bikers unloading from Ardnamurchan. Happy BSA people. Loch Sunart from Strontian. The shores of Loch Sunart. Loch Sunart. Sound of Arisaig. Isle of Eigg with the Isle of Rum in the background. Room with a view. Loch Ailort. An Stac. Loch Ailort and An Stac. Arisaig Chapel. Toigal. River Morar. Loch Morar. Bracara. Glasnacardoch Bay. Skye ferry leaving Mallaig for Armadale. Mallaig Harbour. River Morar. Portnaluchaig. Building the new road to Mallaig. Loch nan uamh from Druimindarroch. Loch nan uamh. Glean mama. Sgurr a Mhuidhe. Glenfinnan. War memorial at Glenfinnan. September 12th As you will no doubt realise, these were not taken on a bike trip, but since microlights (ultralights to you, probably) are often considered the motorbikes of the sky and my particular microlight is very much the KLR of the microlight world, I figured I'd post a few pics from an evening bimble anyway. River Earn from 1500 feet. Forteviot bridge. McDiarmid Park, Perth. Home stadium of St. Johnstone Football Club. River Tay at Perth. Sunset over the Trossachs. Sunset over Strathallan. Braes of Doune wind farm. September 13th A miserable day, I didn't take the camera out much because it just got wet. Tay Bridge, Dundee. September 14th A much nicer day - warm, windless, altogether more civilised, so I took a little spin to Rannoch. Loch Rannoch. River Gaur. Gaur power station. Gaur power station reservoir. Gaur power station. Near Rannoch Station. That's all folks, I'd better go do some work now :)
Great pictures. Its so easy to forget just how wonderful your own country is when you are looking at all the ride reports from around the world
How many pics do I still have to shoot to get at least close to such work.... how frustrating.... Please! Tell us about how to shoot pics with such brillant colours!
You piloting to get the aerials?.......I love digging thru your albums as well.....I tried to shoot the Forth bridge years ago but it was covered in painting shields...walked around the headlands and met a guy living in an old WWI gun emplacement....amazing history.....but on to the topic at hand: your trip reports and what sets some apart from others......My thoughts: 1. You don't overload the viewer with photos of your motorcycle/friends/repetitive shots. 2. I'm guessing you edit ruthlessly.....nobody's good enough to shoot this many winners in a row.....come on! 3. Presentation/photo outlines: What program? Are you on Smugmug or another photo sharing program? 4: Text; in screenwriting, any body of text wider than your thumb disqualifies the entire screenplay from consideration by studio readers.....a fact you really understand. I dig thru most of the ride reports and some come to the top of the pile...yours always do......thx Bruce
Thanks for all the comments :) The circular polarising filter really helps with the colours. I got my first Forth bridge photos a month or so back - rather odd if you consider I used to live just outside South Queensferry with my bedroom window overlooking the bridges. 1. I figure most people know what a KLR looks like, and mine's not the most beautiful KLR either. I generally only get it in the frame if it's adding to the picture somehow. Although I occasionally just stick it on the shot just so people do know I was on a bike :) 2. Yup, I generally take several shots of everything, using slightly different angles and camera settings and then pick one out. 3. I use photoshop - I have recorded an action to put the outlines and the url on so it's just one click of a button - lazyness at work :) 4. For the most part I've got little to say - I go riding for the pleasure of riding and for taking photos. Everyone here knows what it's like to ride a motorbike anyway, which leaves the photos.
Thanx for the mini tour of your homeland through your eyes (and lens!) Superb photography, some of those images will long endure in my mind.
"nothing spectacular" Whatever! Those pics are frickin beautiful. I really do need to find a way over there soon. Thanks for sharing, Mike
