okay here goes my long tragic story, i am lying about the long part. Middel last year i bought a "2007" 250sx after a saving crusade of somthing like 6years (student) and trusting the guy like an idiot i believed him when he told me it was a 2007 year model, but after (out of curosity) i looked up my frame no and it is a 2006 model. As we all know mx bikes differ each year mostly for the better especialy on a ktm and i cant sell it or give it back. I have to make the best of my purchase. What i want to know is, what exactly did ktm change in 2007. During my many months of research i keep coming up with 2006 and 2007 years are "almost" the same, but according to hardparts catalog thats not true. So does 2007 hardparts fit the 2006 model. The bike came with a exc tank and a rtt steering stabelizer and i got a full procircuit system for the bike. I need new springs front and rear , revalve and aircells for the forks. I want the suspention to be as close or better than pre sss yamaha. I ride mx and enduro, but we aren't that compeditve here. We do it for the fun. Okay i gues it was a long story and just look past my spelling and grammer mistakes english is not my muther tongue.

Is it a 2006 model, or was it built in 2006? KTM release there models very early, so a bike built in the later half of 2006, would actually be a 2007 model. My 02 640 was has a build date of 01, my 00 EXC was built in 99, and my 03 525 was built in the last few months of 02. Edit, just saw you looked up the frame number, so it is an 06... I'm no help then...
(edit) forgot we were in the 2 stroke section for a bit there......these guys can straighten you out http://ktmtalk.com/index.php?
The only thing that stayed relatively the same was the motor. The frame, and susp are completely different 06 manufacture date = 07 model year 06: 07:
thanks for the replies and info its not an rfs, its a 2stroke. Let me put is this way: i want to get it as close to the new 250xc in preformance and handiling. Once again thanks for the info i realy appreciate it deeply. Oo and the guy that riped me, my dad and a good friend of mine went out of busness.
Sthealy makes a nice flywheel weight for Ktm's, I run an 11oz on my '09 250sx. Change the power valve spring ( very easy to do ) to the green colored spring and turn in the brass adjuster a few turns, this will slow down how fast the power valve opens and make the bike more user friendly. The XC uses a lower comp head but I'm not sure how much you would notice that change, the cylinders are the same. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...ucG1Bg&usg=AFQjCNFfumIBlDpzvc_p2021aySL5CsJ7Q
i have looked into the fly wheel weight but i orderd torqe pipe for my bike. My standard pipe was nekerd. After some more reading i have come to the conclution that the only way i am going to get my bike to handle like the 2007-2010 framed bikes is to buy a 2007-2010 frame as for the engine, i can upgrade to the 300kit with an few extra parts. Luckly i can upgrade my bike to 2010 spec. My plan (all ebay) -get 2010 frame -yz sss forks -2010 pds shock -2010 cylinder(250 or 300?), ignition and a few other stuff -get 6 speed gearbox(i always want an extra gear regardless of sprockets) -sell all my old stuff I know if i go through with this i might as well buy a new bike, but a new bike costs a lot at once and this over time upgrade isnt going to cost me usd7000 and its better than getting a loan for a new bike. I want to make a sx exc hybrid
i am going to throw my cell against a wall, because i have probably tipped the previous post about 6 times. I keep deleting it accidentally Oo i already have all the pv springs. The red one is insane, but i mostly use the green spring.
My son races an 02 that has been upgraded with a later 07 shock and all the mods to make his 48mm forks as good or better than 2011 OC forks. The difference in performance to my 2009 is not even noticable. I'll PM you some info. A better site for you to ask these questions is ktmtalk.com.
