err gday have had a few folks email asking about the reliability of the tiger heres one i just sent off to a fella who was tossing up between the strom and the tiger i would like to say i reckon the strom is an awesome machine but i reckon we may have broken it on the route so far gday mate the strom is the best value for money option but theres a good chance you will break it if you go serious off road the tiger is very tough excel rims stock which are very tough weve flogged these bikes and had only wear and tear issues they'd done 15 000 ks before we started including 2 apc rallys and we havent treated them kindly theyve done the great dividing range up the east coast with rocks, mud and deep water crossings theyve done the 1100 dunes of simpson desert and the Gib River Road They've done the huge ks of the west aust coast and the deep sand of the great australian bite we had early issues with idling , a bit of anti sieze on the stepper motor fixed that we had a stoppage where the engine immobilizer was broken off its mount after a crash and the bike thought it was lying on its side and both bikes are needing new front discs after a hard lap around oz both bikes have a frame crack under the ankle but considering they've been humping 20 litres of fuel in the stapz bags as well as a 10 litre water bladder on the rear rack with a swag, and OFTEN also carrying a carton of beer on top of that... i think the crack is understandable the frame is steel and weldable so no worries i think they are a seriously tough bike and am happyto recommend them
I rode Philth's Tiger recently & was suitably impressed, so much so I'm considering my options, taking in to account these things have got 40k on them I think that's high praise. The bloke I was riding with wanted to know what colour they come in, he's getting one. I'm waiting to pick them up from a major service & see how they feel. Any one want a 990?
So you have never been let down by a mechanical problem? Do you ride with a unifilter pre filter on the snorkel? What extras have you added to the bike for the condition you ride to make it more reliable/ robust? heres another question the only mechanical problems have been crash damage and wear and tear yes we fun the unifilter pre filter and you can pretty much forget about your main filter with it on! the bikes run bark busters sw motec crash bars ... strongly recommended bar risers heavier oil and a spacer in the front forks andystrapz pannier mounts and panniers a michy desert up front is the best tyre for sand otherwise pirelli scorpion rallys give awesome wear and the safari tank means fuel worries are a thing of the past the rims are excell stock and you wont break them i dont know what the bars are but they are tough and crash proof if you bend or break stuff you can wear it as a badge of honour
That's me, and I loved it. I can't wait until we pick them up from their 'service' to get them back to PBee's place for Philth & co to pick them up and bring them to the Flinders Classic. Great bikes.... If they can negotiate PBee's driveway, they will go anywhere.....:huh
The Pivot Pegz are the same height as standard pegs but being 60mm wide they do reduce the space between the front of the peg and gear lever by 15mm you may need to lift the lever if you wear MX boots or similar.

I'll see if I can get some more glue into that rear tyre on your tiger, it holds air for about 3hrs so you should be ok.
