Jake had engine failure on the last leg. Bike recovery. Restarts today in 11th spot, but takes a 16 hour penalty....

Well after a hectic day, Rod and Todd locked horns for most of it. Rod trying to make a breaking out in front and Todd chasing as hard as he dare.

AFTER 450 KM's OF COMPETITIVE racing, there was a 1 (one) second difference between them.:clap

It was a brutally fast procession. Here they are in the same section.

    Rod.

    +1

Russell (Oz ADV inmate scobes) is doing a great job thusfar... (in 5th overall after Leg 2) :clap

Other (new) names in the top 10 so far... Lee Stephens is impressing and I gotta say (even though he is a world class competitor in rally circles) Alister McCrae is doing a mighty fine job for his first time in competition on a rally bike. :clap:clap

Shane D has got one eye on the Dakar entry ticket already... it would be nice to see him make the trip to Sth America to team up with Rod F on a Yamaha supported bike and give the big show a shake in January. :clap

After the day one failure of Jake's bike, I'm guessing that the GHR guys spent all night (after taking care of the other team bikes) to put a new donk in the #1 scooter. Interesting that he sat out leg 2 though...? As Sylvia has indicated that he will come out again on Leg 3 (Gascoyne to Gascoyne)... start in pos 11., just after the remaining top ten contenders.

    Roll on Safari week :deal

PS: Is anyone monitoring the Safari TV youtube channel. They are doing a top job with the interviews and daily image re-caps. :clap

Ivan Erceg and Bruce Garland have got to be two of the best interviews in the game... bloody clowns! :lol3 Their off cuff bivouac dialogue and antics make a bloke homesick I tell ya.
