I would like to know where my /5 was first sold. Does anyone know a way to do this?

I don't know any details, but would it be possible to do a title search as is done with other items such as car, housing or property?

I'm 2nd owner of mine so I saw the original title, owner's name and location so mine almost surely came from Engle Motots in KC.

Sure is a pretty looking bike Chris!

I was lucky to have all documentation left with the original owners manual. My r75/5 was purchased from BMW Motorcycle Center in San Jose, May 9, 1975 by a gentleman named Bruce.

During the first service, Bruce noted the bike was missing side cover, the front forks clunk, kick starter won't always work, the tappets are miss adjusted and second gear occasional grinds. Apparently, they never fixed anything.... :lol3

You used to be able to get a certificate from BMW Mobile Traditions for about $90. It listed importer and original dealer. I can;t find it listed now though.

I got "birth certificates" for my plunger frame and /2 bikes through the BMW archivist. For the R68 they required photos of the frame number, engine numbe and case numbers as those bikes are commonly cloned due to their rarity and value. The certificate gave the date it left the factory and the importer or dealeship to whom it was sold. I don't know if they continued this practice as far as the later bikes

My deler ran the VIN on my 81 and gave me date of production, shipping date, and the name and date of the dealer that sold it.

Took it to a local dealership. Noticed one of the mechanics checking it out. Talked to him for a minute, he ran the vin gave me all the details and the 10 years of service history.

That's great info but it does not tell me when and where the bike was first sold.
