I NO LONGER PROVIDE SPACER FOR THE CLUTCH. THERE IS A CLUTCH PLATE AVAILABLE FROM MOTOBINS.UK THAT HAS EXTENDED HUB WHICH ACCOMPLISHES THE SAME THING (BUT MUCH EASIER AND BETTER). IT WAS FUN, AND NOW IT IS OVER.

Looks like the Bruno mod sans rivets. Using bolts makes assembly a little easier. Do you plan to sell the spline hubs?

Thank you . I like to play. But this is an attempt to provide the parts needed to modify the existing clutch to become "Bruno" clutch. The idea is the same. I am still testing mine in the bike. It is riveted now. UNI filters are the mod to make removing the transmission easier. It is out in 30 minutes and back in in 45.
The spacer has been designed for BMW clutch. I did not play with Siebenrock clutch.
I want to make sure that the average guy can perform this mod using basic tools. Dremmel or grinder, punch, hammer. Hydraulic press would be nice for the rivets but we will see. I don't want to go into discussion about causes of stripped splines, it has been talked about ad nauseam. My real test would be to get somebody with stripped splines to install modified clutch and nothing else, no additional parts.
I believe that the bike would have long happy life. Either way it is not ready yet.
If there is enough interest I will run 10 parts. Right now I am hovering at about $100 for the kit but nothing finalized yet.

so you think your spacer would work without changing out stripped splines?
spacer would allow undamaged splines to mate up with new clutch disc. giving back aprox 1/3 to 1/2 of original spline length

6 speed has 19 mm of spline length available. It does not use 6 mm, so only 13mm are actually carrying the load. Thank you GSAddic for the info. If you look at the worn shaft, (and you dont have to look far),

there is about 4mm that is only partially worn. And you are gaining the second point on contact on the front of the shaft to stabilize the clutch plate further. Both of these areas are "virgin" more or less. So I think that this middle portion would be safely bypassed. Speculation at this point so an official tester would be nice.

A spacer for the Siebenrock clutch disk would need to be made thicker than for the OEM BMW clutch disk as it's hub is approximately .125" shorter.

That's nice work there, neighbor! I'm very interested. Just so I'm picturing this correctly. On the curent setup there is left over spline on the clutch hub after everything is assembled. Your spacer moves the splined part of the clutch hub to the rear by 6 mm, which allows the total splined area of the hub to be engaged. We haven't actually solved the underlying problem, we've just given the splines additional meat that they have to chew through. Perhaps pushing the (inevitable?) failure so far into the mileage future that it becomes a non-issue.

I would say that you are correct, except for the statement that "we haven't solved the underlying problem". I would go with maybe on that one (just to be conservative). Everything else is correct. I would say the last sentence reflects my exact feelings on this subject.

I would hazard that amount of spline engagement is secondary because some of them fail at low mileage. I think my friend's 2004 has let go at about 30k.
