I tried a hitch mounted on and the XT wouldn't fit with the tire. My Jeep isn't even all that lifted. Just the trailer in a bad design are extra low. Looking at Craigslist there are some cheaper trailers... Although now it's all kind of more academic as I already agreed to a deal with an inmate from East TN for the XT.

I picked up on your humour, countered with sarcasm, and spelled "humor" in Canadian you'd understand. hehe

But yes, it's possible. I'm going to rebuild one of my trailer's tongues in the near future.

How about an XR650R? I have the L and it is a little dated but works well for me. If plating the bike not an issue, The R will get you out of town, hit the trails, and back home. I think with the right seat you could ride all day without a problem.

    Just a thought.

I understand that statement. I live in Franklin and after the ride out ... then the fun ... when it is time to go home I'm tired ... don't want to ride anymore ... now its work ... :cry

And that said, I have a 2008 KLR which is a Pretty Comfy Ride all in all ... plus extra seat padding.

Just a thought here [seeing as how you called for a come one come all opinion].

TractorSupply has a unfinished trailer with no floor in it for less than 400.00 ... if you have a welding shop custom make a goose-neck to fit the back of your Jeep you've got a pretty awesome set up!

Big 1200 for when your flavor is pavement.

Then when you have a taste for some MUD ... Ride in that Jeep to where the crew is meeting up ... beat the stuffing out of your 225 and YOURSELF ... then sit back in comfort with the bike trailered for the ride home.

That Is A Set Up That Most Guys Can Only Dream About ... :snore

I gotta say I like SandalScouts .07 cents on: Flog that 225 for a season ... Then fine tune to your riding preferences with a new bike... :thumb

My .03 If you are tired of that 225 and don't care that much for it anymore ... you've got the best bike in the whole pack ... you'll be the one guy who will ride through any creek and wreck it without remorse :D

Guess I'm an odd-ball (once again).
I enjoy the ride out, the ride through and the ride back home. It's all part of the adventure.

As for the trailer idea, I LIKE it. But would take it one step further. Get the smallest trailer you can find and pull it (and the XT) with the GS.

(On a rather selfish note, it'd be good for someone to trailer to rides. That way they can be the camel. Ya know, furnish drinks, energy food (cold pizza, jerky, pork rinds...okay and some fruit, etc).

Oh and one more thing. Are any of you getting emails when a new post is up? I use to, am subscribed but no longer get messages. I even un-subbed from ALL of my posts and re-subbed again. Still nothing.

So a trailer that fits a 225 and say a GS800 is what I should look for then?

If I go trailer it will be one that fits the 225 and my GS for trips home to Canada with dogs etc... So fitting a dinky little 800 for local trips shouldn't be a problem!

    No you mis-read me.
I meant pull IT (the trailer) AND the XT.

I'll be riding the 800, TYVM. That's why I bought it.

Good idea about getting a two-railer for your other trips back home, etc. Kinda kills the whole trailering the XT w/ the GS though. Might as well get a nice comfy enclosed unit. That way you can store all of you gear in there aw well as the two bikes. Like a garage w/ wheels.

Trailering the XT with the GS, that could be interesting! Wonder if anyone has tried that before...

I was thinking enclosed trailer but they really kill gas mileage... And are $$$$
